Greetings,
Hopefully, someone out there might be able to help me. My name is Cat,
and I am the daughter of Durk Hallman, and the granddaughter of an Edna Mae
Cline. Due to circumstances beyond his control and personal inclinations,
my father who is now deceased, did not keep up with members of his family.
I am looking to research his side of the family. My father had a brother,
by the name of Harold, and at least one sister. I do not know her
birthdate or date of death, or even a married name. My father did imply at
one time, that my grandmother had family in Ohio, and Missouri, and that
she may have originally been born in OH, but eventually moved to Chicago.
If anyone has any further information, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Catherine Arremann
Hi Cathy,
Thanks for the response. Yes, the Monroe County Library has a copy of the book. When Mike Marcy and our tour group visited there last week during the Cline reunion, we took time to look through it. Mike and I assume your John was listed in the book as being from one of the brothers of my ancestor George Cline. I have read the book before but because I was unaware of other cousins doing research, I never paid much attention.
I did correspond with the publisher in IL and they gave me Jerry's address. I have searched the phone directories and have not found his number. I will try to visit Woodsfield this week and see what I can get from the book. I sent you an invite to our "Descendants of Pieter Klein Website" recently, hope you received the username and password.
I will continue to work on finding Jerry as I would be very interested in his sources. Some of his information conflicts with what I have and it would be great to reconcile the two. Thanks Cathy.
Best,
Harley

HERITAGE:
Heritage is defined as those values, traditions, events, beliefs and relationships in a person’s life that combine to give rise to one’s character. Heritage is the defining elements of one’s life that tells who they are and how they should live. Heritage then is the profile of our values, priorities and beliefs and rules we are guided by in our daily lives. Our Heritage begins in the life experiences of our ancestors and we will pass them on to our descendents, long after we are gone. Collectively, the heritage of a society gives rise to its culture.

I recall this web site. He had a lot of information but none of it was documented. Hope Carnicle, also a descendant of John Cline, tired contacting him with no success. This was probably the late 90s or 2000. I assume he either is deceased or incapacitated. I have not tried locating the book - in fact I was not aware there was one. You might want to start with the LDS main library's on-line card catalog (if you haven't already done so). Then you might want to try the major regional (not local) libraries and state archives for Ohio and Virginia (the John Cline who died in Noble Co. OH came from Loudon Co., VA). He might have donated his papers as well (my grandmother did that - a lot of her papers are in the GA state archives even though she lived in TN because the families she researched were concentrated in GA and that would make them easier for future researchers to locate). I also use Amazon's used book finding service to look for these kinds of
books. I have had surprisingly good results, but it can take years for a book to turn up. I just keep renewing my search every 12 weeks.
Good luck. Let me know if you locate a copy. I would like to know if he cited any sources in it.

I am trying to find the author of a book on the "Descendants of John Cline". His name is Jerry Schneider and his book (only one of fourty printed) is in the Monroe County Ohio Library. He did have a website on Tripod but like so many of their sites, it has been deleted, I am not sure why, but if you have information on Jerry, please let me know. Thank You for your help.
