I also have Philip Cline and Elizabeth Newman as parents of Philip and
Samuel and Andrew. Philip was born in 1828 in Martinsburg, Berlley County,
Va, married in 1828 to Rebecca Murphy in Muskingum Co., Ohio and died in
York County, Nebraska. Philip and Rebecca had 8 children: William b. 1828;
Elizabeth b. 1833; Roslinda b. 1836; Andrew b. 1838; James b. 1842; Samuel
b. 1845; Lafayette b. 1848 and Mary Ann b. 1834/ William was born in
Muskingum Co. Ohio and Elizabweth, Rosalinda, Andrew, James amd Mary Ann
were born in McLean Col, Illinois, The rest were born in Bowens Prairie,
Jones County, Iowa. I am descended from William Cline. He was a rather
interesting person. In 1852 he left his wife of a few days and went to
California to find gold. Had trouble on the way but made it and did find
gold. Came back to Bowens Prairie and bought a great deal of land from his
father -in-law. Let me know if any of this is of interest. I would love
to know where they immigrated from and any other stories. Janet
Philips parents were Philip Cline b. abt 1764 New Jersey d. bef. 31
Dec 1852 Liberty Twp., Washington Co., OH and Elizabeth Newman b. 1777
PA.
Somehow my Cline's may be related to this family. Actually I think
all of the Cline's that were in Fayette Co., and Clayton Co., Iowa
before 1860 were related in someway. The problem is, how.........
I have found that looking at the childrens names in the four boys
(above), all the kids are named for somebody. It would be odd for
them to have a child not named for somebody. Also, in these four
family's they used the name more than once. There is a Philip in
there. The question is why???? Unless, I find an older sibling then
Petter, he has named his children, Nancy Ann, Lavina, William,
Elizabeth, Jacob Amos, Rebecca. I don't have his wives parents names
(it would help), so I assume that Nancy and Lavina may be the mother
and mother-in-law. William is possibly his father. Elizabeth could
be his wife or in 1850 in the census there was an Elizabeth Cline
living with them. She was 52 years. The time is right for it to be
his mother. Jacob Amos may be his brother and Rebecca is a question.
The same thing can be done with his siblings families. Not to go into
great detail. Jonathan also has an Elizabeth. Jacob (I descend from
him) there is a Sarah Elizabeth and a William. He also has a John
Samuel. John could be for his wives father, but Samuel ???? And
Robert has a Phillip (no explanation) and a Will. My guess is William
had to be the father or a very important person.
So now we have a Phillip, Samuel, and Rebecca. Are those names from
the Phillip and Rebecca line????
I have been working on this forever. My problem being that there was
a lot of Cline's in Richland Co., OH at that period of time. Chances
are they are related but again how??? The Cline's came out of PA, NJ,
MD, NY, some by way of Virgina and then to Richland Co., OH> Are they
related???? One of my mysteries.

I am a descendant of Philip Cline and Rebecca Murphy Cline through
their
son William. Philip and Rebecca left southern Iowa and moved to York,
Nebraska. Saw their tombstones a few years ago. I have always
wondered
who were the parents f Philip & Rebecca and did they come from West
Virginia to Iowa. I believe (and I have to check my records) that
Samuel
preceeded them into Nebraska. I am about to leave for work so will
check
later and send info then. Janet

Looking for information about the above brothers, their other siblings
(if there were other siblings), and their parents. Also am interested
in the connection between them and Ludwig Cline, and Samuel Cline.
Samuel Cline b. abt 1815 the son of Philip Cline moved to Fayette Co.,
IA from Ohio. Ludwig had a son Conrad Jackson Cline b. 1824 at
