Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi, I just received this post from a member of our TransylvanCoGenList
regarding the opening of the Reference Room on 2nd Saturdays to go to be
open on all Saturdays in January 2007 at the SC Archives in Columbia.
Great news for a fantastic research facility!

The following is a message from the President of the SC Genealogical
Society concerning the Archives:
Rodger Stroup wanted to thank you for your efforts to increase the
funding for the Archives. 7
If the current budget stands as passed by the General Assembly, then the
following will happen (quoting Rodger):
"For your information our plan is to open the Reference Room to everyone
on the 2nd Saturdays from July through December with our current staff.
In January we will be able to open every Saturday. We are going to hire
two full time professional staff members and that will take us at least
2 months to get through the hiring process and then 2 or 3 months for
them to learn the ropes. We will also have one of our current staff
working on Saturday as well."
