Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Theresa, take a look at the website :
http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/history/mnstatehistory/german_migration.html
Apparently new immigrants and many others especially of German origin were sought after to be settlers of Minnesota. My Clines were also German in origin, and settled in Ohio, but as the article above states, the towns and cities in Ohio and Wisconsin became so populated that work was hard to find. The railroads encouraged people to settle along its' lines, setting up some as railroad towns.
Another quick search that brought up interesting aspects of the Lakota/Dakota events was "Federal lands 1870".

I want to thank everyone for helping me find my Cline family members from West Virginia.
Jacob Cline and Matilda Collins, with their children, moved to Minnesota sometime around 1871. Why they moved to MN, I do not know. But it does not suprise me that Jennetta Cline moved to North Dakota. I have seen other family lines do the same.
Cheers,
Theresa

Claudie,
This will be no problem if you have a Cline in your maternal line because when Y-DNA is being tested, it is only from the male line. They do not look at the female DNA unless they are doin MtDna. Remember, Y-DNA is ONLY passed down from the male to the male down through the generations. Same for MtDNA being passed down through the female line. If your brother is going to participate in a DNA test, you might consider joining the Cline Y-DNA surname project at FamilyTreeDNA.com Hope this helps.

Hi Clasdie,
I am the administrator for the Cline surname project at Family Tree DNA. It is unusual that a male be tested for a surname of his mother. Y-DNA and MTdna are the most popular testing and the Y-test only the male line and teh MTdna the female. I would suggest you find a male descendent of the Perryman family if you are looking to do that line. I would be glad to try and answer any questions I can. You can contact me off list if you would like at hpdakin(a)sbcglobal.net I would be gald to speak to you by phone if you wish. Hope I helped some.

I am an Oklahoma Cline. Maybe I can help you. We are suppose to be Irish
Clines, but who knows for sure as I have not got them back to the boat.
Several different strains of Cline are located in Oklahoma.

Sorry Harley, all I did was note that they were from Ohio on Ancestry and
checked and the kids were shown born Ohio too and they may be the ones
that said "This ain't for me" and headed back. Had some AR kin that
preferred AR to OK when they went and tried it before 1900. Guess it was
pretty wild then.

Harley, I have run across some Ohio Clines in OK that may have come from
your bunch. There are some from everywhere in OK and Jenetta may have
made the trek from OK with a bunch that skipped OK to head on west.
I checked out a bunch of Clines in OK because I lost some in AR that I
thught may have gone across the river. Maybe I should check ND also.
Interesting tale, I always thought the Hatfield-McCoy was a KY thing
