Hello CLINE RESEARCHERS,
This list is only for the purpose of GENEALOGY!, there have been some
terrible messages that have come through to some of the list.
I have now taken some action to remove the person that has sent these emails
and the person has been reported.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Tell me about his brother Jacob. Maybe he is my Jacob's father. Do you
know the children of Jacob and where they lived?

I am searching for the parents and siblings of MARTIN KLINE b 1824 in Lancaster City, Lancaster Co, PA. He was in Lancaster in the 1850 Census but in OH, Stark or Summit Co in 1860 with a different wife. He probably left his first family in Lancaster.
I have been searching for 25 years and any help will be greatly appreciated.
JoAnn
Our Cline line is somewhat of a mystery to us. Here is what I have:
Paul Cline born in Germany, married Rachial Grimm, born in Germany. I am
fairly sure they had several children, but only know of two. Joseph, either
born in Germany or Holmes County, Ohio. I have heard two different stories
with two different birth dates. November 17, 1837 or October 16, 1840. The
book, History of Knox County (Ohio), states that he came to America in 1845
and that his father died soon after he was born and mother died when he was
10. Joseph fought in the Civil War. I ordered his pension records and that
is how I found his parents names. Supposedly, when he came home from the
war, all of his siblings had moved away, except for sister Elizabeth (who
married an Eaf McMillan) and he never knew where they went! Joseph married
Samantha Artensia Winterringer. They had 6 children. Son Manning is our
line. He was born March 10, 1876 in Knox County, Ohio. Married Romamie
Busenburg. They had 3 children. Son Wilmont was born February 5, 1898 in
Knox County, Ohio. He married Della Mae Wolfe. They had 2 children.
Daughter Elsie Pearl Cline was born June 23, 1931. Married Jack Ellis
Wiggins. They had 2 children. Son James (my husband) was born June 6,
1955.
I sure would like to make a connection with the lines of Joseph's siblings!
Any info would be helpful.

Hello, Cline-seekers,
My great-great grandma Clarissa/Clara Cline was born in Tazewell Co., VA (now
McDowell Co., WV area) in 1852-1855. She was the duaghter of Peter Cline, Jr
and Anna Morgan.
Clara had four children while single: Martha, Wyatt, Nancy Isabelle "Belle" and
my great-granny Amanda Victoria Cline. All used the Cline name and were born
between 1870 and 1881.
Rumor has it (from an elderly WV lady) that the father of this first brood was
surnamed Phillips, called "Wid" Phillips (perhaps for "widower?") If I had a
first name, I'd be able to trace a new branch of my family tree.
In 1891, at the home of her father Peter Cline, Clara finally married. Her
husband William Mullins was not the father of the first four children. Clara and
William Mullins had four sons, all surnamed Mullins: Neal, Milton, Walter and
Benjamin H. "Ben."
Can anyone help me fill in the gaps?
Thanks!
Sandra Lassen
Hi, My Clines came from Knox co. Ohio. Jacob and Anna with son Peter came
over on the ship Dragon in 1734. Children born her were John George b. 1734
Anna b. 1736, then Leonard.
Peter died young having children Conrad Peter b. Sept. 17, 1756, Jacob b. Jan
28, 1758. Then Johannes b. Oct. 16, 1760.
My line comes thru Johannes but I have missing pieces. They finaly end up in
Fayette co. in Illinois. But the last name changes to Kline.
Can anyone help me with a link, perhaps. John is my brick wall. Thank You
All
Kris Kline/Mullins

Re: Roll Call
We are looking for parents or other info re: Mary/Mollie Cline b ca 1859
in IN. Married William M. Hancock 1880 IN. Children: George Clinton
Hancock b 1880 IN; Walter J. b 1883 IN; Eva b 1885 IN; Arthur b 1887 IN.
Family all buried in Union Cem, Fountain Co, IN.
We are stumped with William and Mary. Who were their parents? Census
records give conflicting bp for their parents. Any clues will be
appreciated.

Am searching for any descendants or information:
Samuel CLINE, b. 10 Feb 1845, most likely in Rockingham County, VA.
Married Malinda Catherine Long on 24 Oct 1867 in Shenandoah County, VA.
Died 23 Nov 1918 in West Newton, Westmoreland County, PA
Children:
1. Mary Alice (May 1870 - ?)
2. Maggie (6 Mar 1872 - 20 Jan 1930) m. Joseph White 22 Oct 1891
3. Charles Marcellus (2 Jun 1877 - 3 Aug 1931) m. Clara White 23 Feb 1898
4. William John (Jan 1880 - ?) m. Maggie Pifer 31 Dec 1903
5. Edward Clarence (11 Feb 1883 - 1Jan 1955) m. Stella Dixon 29 Jun 1904
I found the title referenced on the DAR site. It is "The Family of
Conrad Cline of Bedford Co., PA." by William Du Bois. The book is
fairly comprehensive, although I know there are errors about some of the
more current Clines, probably from difficulty obtaining updated and
accurate information on marriages/divorces, births, etc.

Hi Deb,
Thanks for your reply. I also descend from Alexander Henderson Cline's 2nd
wife, Lucinda Davis. I don't have any specific questions. I've just been
trying unsuccessfully to trace the line before Conrad. I do have some old pictures
of Lucinda and Alexander that another cousin scanned for me. If you're
interested I can scan them for you next time I go to my dad's (I don't have a
scanner).
Do you happen to know what the name of the Cline book is and if it's
available outside the midwest? I live in California.

Looking for information on the family of John Cline born 1776 in VA or PA &
his wife Elizabeth born 1776 in VA. John & Elizabeth moved to Ross County,
Ohio in the late 1790's John died there 2 Jun 1846 & Elizabeth 24 Jan 1842.
They had a large family all born in Ross County. I think I know who most of
the children are but have proof for only John b 1811 who married Sarah
Street; Samuel b 1813 married Minerva Hoggard; Any information on ancestry
of John Sr., wife Elizabeth's maiden name & any proof of children would be
appreciated.
Sue
Hello Sharon,
I'm replying to both your posts and the subject line above seemed
best. How certain are you of Jacob's birth date? I routinely search the
1880 Census for all surnames of interest for some distance around where we
have found someone, looking for possible kin and associates like old
neighbors. From checking Linn, I remembered a Jacob of appropriate age for
our family, which we discarded. Checking back after your last post, I
found that he was your Jacob, with Sarah, and living with his son John and
family. He gives his age as 67, i.e. born c1813 not 1823. Transcription
errors are not unknown, and 5 morphing to 6 is a problem, but Sarah was
listed as 58, so the transcriber had a sample 5 on the line below Jacob's.
We discarded him because, though the record says born OH, parents were
listed as NY and PA (Sarah's the same).
We do have a Jacob who appears in the 1840 census, b. 1805+5, with a woman
in the same age bracket and another b. 1765+5, disappearing again by 1850,
but that's another decade older. Currently, we can't match them to unnamed
in 1820 or 1830, so we can't assign them to a family group unless land/tax
records show them holding the land of someone who went to Illinois. (The
only other Jacob we have shares a gravestone with Nancy, was b. 1795 and we
found neither on any Logan census.)
Thanks for posting your family details, it's a huge help in eliminating
possibilities which would otherwise consume time and effort.
kb
I am not sure if it will help, but you might look in Ulster Co., NY for
Clines in the 1700's.
