Glenda,
Thanks for responding, but I do not believe this is my Harriett, unless she
was married prior to Dan Coble. I will keep your info on hand. Thanks

Don't know your line of Clines but my grandfather was William Franklin Cline
of Broadway, VA. I think his brothers and sisters used K in the spelling.
His parents were Thomas Cline and Rebecca Spitzer. The Clines seem to be
very elusive in that area. I haven't had much luck.

I have him as William H. Cline that was 39 in the 1850 Yell Co AR census with
wife Lavinia RUTH Cline Dover Post Office. He lived near Solomon cline age
73, Chestine cline, age 32, & Wm age 30 all in separate households. Solomon
Cline was also born NC and a wagonmaker by trade. He was m to Katy Smith in
Greene Co TN before coming to AR.She died abt 1850.William H and Chestine
Cline were still in YHell co in 1870. With Wm H was his wife Lavinia, and
children Roan Chestine, Susan Perilee, and Martha Ann. This time Chestine
was listed as Chester Cline but same family James d Marion Wm H's son, and
Sarah Jane were still there. I found & met one of Roan Chestine's sons near
here one time & he said that Wm H's father or grandfather was a German Jew.
But I believe he amy have been Indian, or at least Lavinia was Cherokee. She
was known as Vinie ruth cline with a long I. i live hear in ft Smith, Ar &
have been unable to locate a death date or grave. The oldtimer said he was
buried along the highway between Ft Smith & Fayetteville. There in one
cemetery that has a lot of standup rocks that might be where it is, but no
proof there. Billie

Cathy, thanks for responding. Based on the info you have, we are looking at
two different people. However, there may be a connection further back IF I
can ever get further back! :) My William only had 2 sons, but they were
named William and David. I'm definitely keeping your info and will let you
know if I do find a connection.
Thanks again. Sharon
Gwen:
I am descended from Nathan and Eve's son Seth. Seth and his wife Elizabeth
(Bradshaw) and their children moved to Yell County, Arkansas after the Civil
War. Seth's sons John Franklin (now I know where his name came from) and
Nathan were married in Arkansas. This Nathan was my Great Grandfather. For
some reason, they all moved back to Bartow County, Georgia before 1880. My
grandfather Marion was born in Bartow County and my father Adron was born in
Cobb County. I was born in Atlanta and now reside in Roswell, very close to
you.
I have researched the Cline (Klein) family fairly well. I have wills, land
records and excerpts from books. I got a lot of information about the
Cansler (Gentzler) family from a local researcher Cliff Roberts. He is
writing a Cansler family history book. There is an excellent book "German
Speaking People West of the Catawba River 1750-1800" by Lorena Eaker (1994
SCK Publications) that has helped.
I have most of my information stored in Family Tree Maker. I can send you a
Genealogical Report that has most of my info in it. It will be attached as a
rich text file or I can convert it to a Word document. Can you handle the
attachment? Let me know.
Herman
I am descended from William H Cline b 1810/11 that came to AR in the early
1840's and settled in Dover, Yell CO, AR. I bvelieve he was related to the
George Cline group in Washington co AR as he triaveled to there frequently.
I do not have the Eve Cline tho. Billie
Gail
I will have to see if I have when she was born. I do not have much
on this family at all. I did just get another e-mail from a man
that said that Gertrude is not really a Martin and that the two
Gertrude are often confused. He gave me enough information that I
do know he is from my direct line so, I am waiting for him to get
my responds and I hope that he will tell me who Gertrude is. He
said that he has the information on the family and that often the
two or confused.
So, lets keep in touch and see what he tells me.

Sharon,
I don't know if this William Cline is the same as yours. According to my
great-grandfather's obituary (ISAAC CLINE), he had a brother named William
who was born July 12, 1830, in an unspecified location (most likely Beaver
Township, Noble County, OH, because that's where my great-grandfather was
born). Isaac's obituary stated that William died in 1894 in Barnesville,
Belmont County, OH. I know nothing more about him. William's parents were
DAVID CLINE and ELIZABETH DELONG (which I have proved). Isaac's obituary
went on to mention the other siblings: "Of their family there survive from
the pioneer home in Beaver township [Noble County, OH], DAVID CLINE at the
old home at 62, George Cline at Quaker City in the seventies, ABRAHAM CLINE
in Kansas City at 81 and Mrs. EFFIE MUMMY, wife of DAVID MUMMY of
Summerfield, Noble Co. JOHN died in the seventies 15 years ago in Pike
county, Ohio. THOMAS 25 years ago at about 40 in Green County, WILLIAM at
Barnesville at 68, three years ago, MARY GIBSON wife of SAMUEL GIBSON at
Batesville in the sixties about ten years ago, SALLIE LINGENFELTER wife of
JOHN LINGENFELTER in Iowa, probably 15 years ago. All the ten, now more than
half gone, grew to maturity and became heads of families."
Hope this helps.
Gwen, When was your Gertrude Martin born? I have a Gertrude Martin also.
Thanks. Gail T.

Gwen:
Your information is interesting to me. Your info is similar to my ancestry,
but with significant differences.
My great great great grandmother was Eve Cline. She was married to Nathan
Abernathy. They were both born in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Eve's,
parents were Valentine Cline (originally spelled Klein) and Gertrude
(Gertrout) Cansler (Gentzler). Valentine's wife Gertrude is frequently
misidentified as Gertrude Martin.
Valentine Cline's parents were Andreas Klein and Eva Maria ??? Andreas and
Eva Maria came from Germany to Philadelphia in 1752. Valentine was born in
Lancaster County, PA in 1753. A large group of German families migrated to
North Carolina. Valentine came with them. He married Gertrout about 1780.
They had ten children.
Their daughter Eve married Nathan Abernathy on January 20, 1808 in Lincoln
County. They had 12 or 13 children. The whole bunch moved to Cass (now
Bartow) County Georgia around 1840. I am a direct descendant.
Does any of this match up with your ancestry? If so, there is lots of info
available on these folks. By the way, Valentine was probably not related to
the Jacob Klein
(Cline) family in Lincoln County.
Herman Abernathy
Looking for information on family of William M. CLINE, b ca 1820 in Indiana
Co, PA. He married Nancy NORMAN in 1838 in Belmont Co, OH, and raised 13
children there, 11 girls and 2 boys.
Nothing is known of William's siblings or parents, though Belmont Co marriage
records indicate an Isaac CLINE married in 1835 and a Margaret CLINE married
in 1836. Perhaps these are siblings -- does anyone know?
William was a shoemaker by trade and served in the Civil War.
Any information greatly appreciated! Sharon
Hi Carol,
I'm stuck in 1750 too, I'm looking for Jacob Klein (Jr.?) born about 1750 in Shawangunk, who married Elizabeth Snyder born about 1753 in Shawangunk. I saw Jacob referred to as a Junior on one baptismal record, but I can't locate any other information on his parents. So far the online birth records for Shawangunk appear to begin in late 1750, and Jacob is not among them. Do you know what town Eva was supposed to have been born in?

Patricia, I'm still looking for information on Eva Kleyn born abt 1750. She
married Geisbert TURNER. Eva and Geisbert were sponsors at the 1794 baptism
of Antje TURNER daughter of Geisbert and Sarah Taylor Turner. (Ulster
County, NY)
I have a John Jacob Klein born about 1735 in Germany, married to Eva
Dusong. They lived primarily in Virginia. They had 9 children from 1760
to 1777.

List,
I thought that this would be a good place for
me to step in. One of the taglines that comes
with every piece of mail that you receive mentions
"cutting and pasting". Here is an example of the
confusion that is caused when you do not send back
part of the message that you are referring to.
Four different e-mails from four different addresses,
with names in common.
There is no need to send the entire message back to
the list, taking up unneccessary space. Cut and paste
only the most important part of the message.
Any questions, pam_honaker(a)hotmail.com
Thanks, Pam

Suzanne, Some how I think maybe someone has our William Clines combined as
the only reply I have made was yesterday. It came to my address but was
address to a Suzanne. My name is not Suzanne. I did not send the e-mail
concerning Isaac Cline either. I have three William Clines in my Family.
William Madison Cline was b. in VA abt. 1792-94. He had a son b. in TN abt.
1844 named William A. William A. had a brother named James Madison who had
a son named William Poyner Cline b. 1869 in AR. I have no idea as to who
the father of William Madison is. William Madison and William Poyner d. in
AR. William A. moved to Bell Co. TX and I assume d. there. I'm sorry for
the confusion but I feel someone else has us mixed up.
