Sorry I don't think I can help. My information is that John Cline, b. 1785,
married Nancy Jane VICKERY(VICKORY), b. 1790, had nine children but I only
have birth years of two, Jesse b. 1815 and Henry C b abt. 1821. One of the
others listed was a Washington CLINE. Some of the children at least, came
south and it is believed some went back north. It gets real confusing around
that time period in southeast, TN.

Hi Lorene,
Thank you for responding. At least I'm seeing more Lewis CLINES,
perhaps of the same family. I don't have enough information to
make a connection to your Lewis. My Lewis, if that name is correct,
was living in OH, the most I will assume, when my my great~grandf.,
Adam, was born, 13 Apr 1851.
Whether there's a family connection above your Lewis and mine, I
can't determine, at this point. I will keep your address and
message on file, hoping something will come up later to connect
them. In the meantime, I'll send the Lewis CLINEs & Adam CLINEs
that are found in the OH & PA Census from various years. This is
taken from the Census Indexes, previously posted on CLINE-L in
1998, by "Earel Neikirk" <eneik(a)bright.net> . I've entered some
of the county and township names, to give you the idea. I think
I know the other counties, but some would be guessing more than I
already have, so I'll leave that out. I'm sure there must be an
abbreviation list somewhere. I have no idea if a Census has been
posted for IN.

Hi Betsy,
Thank you so much for this lead!! Perhaps Issac did have an uncle
or brother named Lewis! Or, perhaps John or Joseph had a grandson,
Lewis. I will definitely be checking these counties. I will let
you know if I find anything. It won't be immediately, as I'm
dismantling my e-mail to install IE. As soon as I'm in action again,
I can't wait to start searching, hopefully by next week.

HI,
I have been looking for my GGrfather Thomas (Tom) M. Cline(s) for a long time and am very discouraged. On his tombstone in Jasper Co., TX his birth date is 1845, died 1Mar1928 Jasper Co., TX. Place of birth "Kansas City", doesn't say which state. He married Sarah Ann Bradshaw 10Jul1870 in Franklin Co. MS. Sarah was b. 6Jun1849, LA. He is on the 1880 Newton Co. TX census as; w-m-32-blksmith-IN-KY-KY. his wife Sarah-w-F-28-Kp House-TX-MS-MS. , 2 daughters Elvira and Lorene.
I have not been able to find more info on him. If anyone has access to records to Kansas City Mo or KS, or to IN records I will really be grateful for the help. I would also appreciate if you would look in the book for him or his possible parents.
Also I am trying to contact Lorene Fort, the edress I have does not work.
Thank you all for any assistance you may offer, there is somewhat of an urgency for me to get all the work accomplished.
Be Blessed,
Lorene

Hi,
I don't have much to go on. But, if you can help, I'd appreciate
it. I am hoping that this CLINE family, since it followed the
VA > OH migration, will be in this book.
I'm looking for a Lewis CLINE, b. in "VA", between 1790 and 1820,
given the uncertainty of these records. He is purported to have
married a Nancy DAVIS, who, according to the census record, was
born in OH, [unk. county].
I have my Gr~grandfather Adam CLINE's obit, that states that he
was born in OH, 13 April 1851 [county unknown]. I have the 1880
Furnas Co., NE Census, also showing him born in OH, and that his
father was born in VA.
I obtained the family history indirectly. According to the written
records of Adam's daughter Amy, Adam was the son of Lewis CLINE,
born in 1796. His given birthplace of Germany conflicts with the
Census that states OH. It also conflicts with the Dutch tradition.
Whatever the family origin, I don't give the German birth place much
credence. My grandfather "never spoke about his family", and Adam,
according to his obit, "was a man of few words".
I, likewise, don't give credence to Amy's record that Nancy DAVIS
was born in France in 1816, when the census shows Adam's mother
born in OH. <g>
If you can find an or any Lewis CLINE's that might fit in this
picture, I'd most appreciate it. I'd like to get passed the fairy
tale of this line.
Thank you,
Sandi Goetze [GETZ]

Firstly let me apologize if I have disobeyed protocol to other list owners....since I don't know who all of you are. I hope none of you will mind.
Rootsweb has allowed a new list to be created. The list is a combination of all the North Eastern counties of Tennessee. There is such a list in Southeast and it is very active and informative. By creating a list that combines the regions/counties it will allow researchers to have their queries/statements to be broadcast to many others who research the area. The fact that county lines & names changed fairly often after the formation of the state it will eliminate have to do multiple mailings to each county. It will also allow researchers to correspond with others who may have infinate knowledge of the area, it's people and their migrations. Northeast Tennessee was a "hot bed" of families moving southward and westward in the late 1700's to the mid 1800's. The mountainous region of Virginia, geographically, had a passage that was easier to cross so it was natural for settlers to move into the NE Tennessee area.
I urge all researchers who are working in this region to subscribe to this list....we can all benefit from it.
To subscribe to the list it is just as it is with all the others. NE-TN-L-request(a)rootsweb.com for the list mode. NE-TN-L-request-D(a)rootsweb.com for the digest mode. Type subscribe into the subject line.
The normal mailing addy is NE-TN-L(a)rootsweb.com

I'm glad Joyce sent this message because I had forgotten there was a Cline list !! I never receive any email from it.
I am still researching my GGGrfather Thomas (Tom) M. Cline(s), b. 1845 according to his tombstone in Jasper TX he was born in Kansas City, state unknown. On the 1880 Newton Co., TX census place of birth shows to be IN
