There is suppose to be a Cline Family Reunion in August. My family is from
the Cabarrus County area of North Carolina and would like to touch base with
anyone else that is researching this area of the country. If you have
information as to where the reunion is to be held would like to get this
information.

Hi, I am trying to find information about my wife's father's side of the
family.
I would appreciate any help with John Krisher and Catherine Kline's dates of
birth, marriage, death as well as identifying their children, and
Catherine's parents. I've also seen Catherine Kline's name as Katherine
Kline and Catherine Cline.
Family tradition has it that her grandfather's side of the family (William
H. KRISHER) was PA Dutch while her grandmother's side (Charlotte E. CHERRY)
was German. For whatever reason, the few living aunts and uncles (William H
and Charlotte E's children) have very little knowledge about their Krisher
PA roots - this was not a topic discussed within the family when they grew
up, or later in life.
Here is what I know, mostly from a handwritten family tree photocopied for
my wife by the compiler, my mother-in-law, Ethel (Tannahill) Krisher:
Thomas KRISHER b NJ (see census info below) m abt or bef 1835, Bellwood PA
+ Annie CHERRY b NJ (see census info below)
... John b abt 1835, Chattawissa (probably Catawissa, Columbia Co) PA; m abt
or bef 1866, location unknown; d 5 Sep 1925, Mazeppa, Wabasha Co MN
... + Catherine KLINE b WI or IL (see census info below) d 1887, Mazeppa,
Wabasha Co MN
...... William Henry/Henery b 7 Jan 1866, Green Co IL (or WI - see census
info below); m 8 Dec 1903, Hansboro, Towner Co ND; d 22 Mar 1945, Arvilla AB
...... + Charlotte Elizabeth CHERRY b 3 Nov 1883, Bellwood, Blair Co PA; d
20 Jan 1962, Busby AB
Information on Charlotte Elizabeth Cherry's ancestors in readily available
(see http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~cherryne/genealogy/cherry.html ).
Other children of John Krisher and Catherine Kline are:
Adele m William Well, Cavalier ND
Jane/June m Tom Caswell, Mazeppa MN
Elizabeth m ? Jackson
Elizabeth (widowed) m Vincent Schmuck, Grand Forks ND
Lilly m ? McGolgan, Willeston ND and later Minneapolis
Aylmer/Elmer, Cavalier ND - never married
Thomas, Bellwood PA (basis for thinking parents were married there)
Nora m ? Long, Egeland ND and later of Portland OR
It is not clear from the handwritten family tree whether the place names are
where the children were born or married. If it indicates places of birth
then the John and Catherine married and had their first child in PA
(Thomas), moved through IL (having William Henry), Minnesota (having
Jane/June) and finally ending up in ND where they had the rest of the
children (at least those I know about).
I also know that John was a civil war veteran (hand written on tree).
Another Krisher/Cherry researcher has looked at the 1910 census for Victor
Twp, Towner Co ND and found some corroborating, as well as conflicting,
information (I am relying on the accuracy of her transciption):
Dwelling #20 Family #21
Head of household: Long, Melvin O; male; 28 yrs old; married 5 yrs; b IN;
parents both b IN
Wife: Long, Nora B; 23 yrs of age; married 5 yrs; 2 children; b MN; father b
PA; mother WI
Father-in-Law: Krisher, John; 73 yrs old; widower; b PA; parent b NJ
- this confirms that John was born ~1835 (1837 according to this census) in
PA.
- Nora would have been born in 1887 which is the year her mother, Catherine
Kline, died and was buried in Mazeppa, Wabasha Co MN. It might be concluded
that her mother died in, or as a result of complications of, childbirth.
Consequently, Nora was most certainly born in Mazeppa as well (she probably
married Melvin Long in Egeland ND then).
Dwelling #100 Family #100
Head of household: Krisher, William; male; 42 yrs of age; married 6 yrs; b
WI; father b PA; mother b IL
Wife: Krisher, Lottie; female; white; age 25 yrs; married 6 yrs; 3 children;
b PA; parents both b PA
All 3 children: Laura, Roy, Lloyd; father b WI; mother b PA
- Nora and William's mother is Catherine Kline so she could not have been
born in both WI and IL
- William being born in WI contradicts other information that he was born in
IL
- most likely scenario is that the census taker switched where William was
born with where his mother was born

Hi all fellow Cline researchers <G>:
This is my first posting to the list after lurking for quite
awhile. I am wondering if anyone has a Jacob CLINE b.1812 in (probably)
Virginia. He married Mary WILSON in 1834 somewhere in IL and in 1844
came to Oregon. I believe he had a brother Daniel who came our west
later. In 1850 Daniel is living in Portage Co., Ohio and is enumerated
on the census with a Philip CLINE age 73 born Va. and Polly age 68 also
born Va. In the same household with Daniel and Philip and Polly are
Daniel's wife, Welthy, and Anna Billy age 40 b.Pa, Polly West age 9 born
Oh and Margaret J. Foster age 7 and also born Oh. I would love to hear
from anyone who is connected with this line and am happy to share with
those any info I have.
TIA,
Jan

Hi, Renie
Actually, I think our messages are getting through because I get replies. I think Wildcat is on the list and their address is corrupted. Is the list manager listening? Can you fix it, list owner?

The words in parenthesis are the way I read it, but it doesn't make too much
sense, so it's probably not the word. This will was several pages long and
looks like a couple of the pages sustained some rippage at one point and was
taped thereby reducing the ink under the tape to an illegible pile of
schmush...that would be the (???) notations.
