There was a very large data base several years ago on the yoders. I dont know
if that was the database you were describing. It had the descendancy of
Sebastian Klein on it.
One thing that may be of interest also on a trip to the lds library i
downloaded a list of the cline books. I think I recall the desrpiton to be of
90 published back then. Many of the books also had a brief lineage description
of the author which aided in figuring out which book i wanted to order the
film rental i believe was 3.00 from LDS librqary. Some of the titles were on
hand at my Public Gen. Library. And some I had loaned to me by a cousin I
found on the internet that I had met by sharing data back an forth. Also when
going to the library I dont just look for my Main Surname.
The Allied surnames have often help steer me to other authors and books, when
browsing their sources.
These list are wonderful...
Sorry I couln't be of more assistance. Hopefully the tips may be of som
assistance to others also.

My great-grandfather was George Cline. He joined the Union army in McHenry
Co., Illinois. He was 19 at the time. He claimed to be from Riley,
Illinois at the time which was just south of Marengo on now highway 23.
Riley is no longer on the maps. If you have any Georges that could fit.
Let me know.

Life is like a lump of coal. If the right amount of pressure
is given, it makes diamonds, if the pressure is not taken
well, it stays coal.
I am searching for any information about Phebe Cline and her parents and

Dear CLINE-L,
I am new to this mail list. A couple of years ago I stumbled across a web
page that contained links to zipped text files with very extensive listings
of Cline/Klein genealogy. I seem to remember that there were several
separate listings for different groups of Cline/Klein families. Most seemed
to originate with Johan Sebastian Klein of Germany or one of his supposed
brothers. I copied the lists down to my local machine with intentions of
examining them later.
Well as so often happens I forgot about the files and misplaced the disks
that I saved them on.
I haven't been able to locate the files out on the web, does anyone have
these lists, or know where they might be located? I did print out my direct
lineage from the list for my mother, her grand-grandmother was a Cline, so I
haven't lost it all. But, I recently was contacted by a cousin from my
fathers family. He was directly interested in the Eddleman family, but in
looking at his gedcom I discovered that his mothers maiden name was Cline.
So now we are interested seeing if there was any convergence. Does anyone
have any help for us?

I was looking for information on Peter Klein who "supposedly" immigrated from
Germany and settled into West Virginia. Also is Cline more likely a
derivative of Clyne or Klein?
thanks,

Catherine ? was born in OH ca 1818. She married an unknown CLINE. It is
uncertain if her husband died in OH, on the way to MO. She married Samuel
Keene in Mississippi Co., MO, on March 11, 1838. Catherine died ca 1880.
Children born to Catherine and her first husband Mr. CLINE in OH are Lucinda,
Charles, Ira and Aaron.
---------
Catherines second husband was Samuel Keene was born in VA ca 1800 and died
July 10, 1872, Mississippi Co., MO.
The 1850 Mississippi Co., MO, census records list 6 children born to Samuel in
Ohio and brought to MO: Ann, Polly, Benjamin (b. 1825), Elisha (b. 1832),
Riley/Ruby (male b. 1834), and Volumna (b. 1836). Nothing is known about
Samuel's first wife.
Samuel and Catherines children born MO: The census records list 6 children
born after Samuel and Catherine were married in 1838: Samuel Jr.(b. 1843),
Frances (b. 1847-8), Elyatta (b. 1855), Henry (b. 1859), Arbanna (b. 1865),
and Catherine (?).
--------------
It is uncertain whether Samuel and Catherine knew each other in OH, but the
coincidence of their former residence in OH suggests the families may have
known each other. Their families may have even come to Mississippi Co., MO,
together on a wagon train or by boat down the Ohio River until it converges at
Cairo, IL, into the Mississippi River. (Mississippi Co., MO is only seven
miles from Cairo.)

Does anyone have anyCline or McCoy connections to a Thomas or Sisk family.
My friend, Eva Marie Thomas has the following in her Thomas line.
Jacob Cline (Jake) Thomas b May 1831, Tennessee married
Nancy Sisk b 1832, Tennessee.
Jacob's parents:
George Thomas b 1781, Tennessee, d Feb 1855 Cooke, Tennesee
Catherine T Lowery, b 1785-6, Tennessee, d 1870-1880 Cooke of Jefferson, Tenn
Jacob was the 8th child.
The 6th child was Jeremiah McCoy Thomas b 1825, d 1866 Danridge, TN and
married Mary Ann Denton.
I'm told this was Eastern Tenn. With the names of Jacob Cline and McCoy, I
feel there must be a connection somehow to the WV/KY Cline and McCoy families.
Or else this is a huge coincedence.
She doesn't have any other information going back any further to help make a
connection. I don't recognize either Thomas or Sisk in any of my Cline
research. She also doesn't have names of Nancy Sisk's parents.
My Cline line is Peter Cline b before 1768 Germany and Elizabeth Riffe
William "Alum Billy" Cline b ca 1791 VA, KY or NC
Jacob "Rich Jake" Cline b ca 1788 VA?
+ other children
William "Alum Billy" Cline m Hannah Clevenger
Martha "Patsy" Cline b 1831 Glen Alum, WV (Logan Co) m William Cary
Jacob "Alum Jake" Cline b ca 1832 Glen Alum, WV m Matilda Collins
We also know that in the Glen Alum, Logan Co, VA (WV) and Pike Co, KY was the
area of the Hatfield McCoy feud and McCoy's and Clines inter married.
With the name of Jacob Cline and McCoy as brothers in this Thomas family,
there must be some connection. Exactly what is my goal. Wouldn't it be fun
to find we have a common ancestor?
Thank you,
Barbara Raemer

Hi, everyone--
Am finally back on-line after a major computer CRASH 2 weeks ago. Just
beginning to go thru the "mountain" of e-mail that accumulated in my
mail box.
Still getting my data back into my computer.
I cannot stress strong enough to back up all your data on floppy disks
and more than one copy. It saved my database.
My "crash" occurred just after backing up my data and was playing
"solitare." Just touched my mouse and boom!!
Will try to reply as soon as I can.
