I am making an inquiry about a Margarieta Kleyn, b. July 3, 1739 in
Hurley, Ulster Co., NY. She was the mother of Johas Kleyn, b. July 21,
1766 in Rochester twp, Ulster Co., NY. The father of Jonas Kleyn was
never declared, which is a curiosity for the times. Why the father of
Jonas was never delcared has our interest and was wondering if there was
anyone that had a slight insight into this.
Jonas grew up and married to Catherine Roosa in February 8, 1787 in
Ulster Co., NY. They were the parents of Margaret Cline (b. Nov. 11,
1788) that married to Lodwick/Luderik Cline (b. abt 1785). As you will
note, there is a change in the spelling of the name at this time.
Lodwick/Luderick was a second cousin to Margaret and he is who we are
interested in, as we have no history on him other than he was the
husband of Margaret. We have a feeling the family was rather close and
any information on the siblings or parents of either family would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi Roxanne-
I have a book printed in 1990 by William DuBois, Jr. listing descendants
of William Kline/Cline. I haven't sorted through all the information as
of yet, but I think it has the line you are looking for.
Conrad Kline/Cline (c.1726-7/17/1798) was a German immigrant to the
colonies. He is buried in the Kline Cemetery, Licking Creek Township,
Fulton County, PA. From my reading of Mr. DuBois' work, he believes
there is a strong possibility that Conrad was married twice, and
possibly three times. He lists Anna's middle initial as "B" and states
her maiden name may have been Wink or Clevenger. He goes on to state
this Anna Cline probably died in 1824, based on the date her will was
probated. So -- if you have information on Anna Seib being married to
Conrad, this would support Mr. DuBois' belief that there was more than
one marriage.
On to William: He was also married twice. His first wife was Susannah
Lance. They had 11 children, three dying in infancy; she died in 1823.
His second wife was Jane Woten; together they had another 7 children.
(The Cline/Woten line is the one from which my husband's family
descends.) Mr. DuBois lists Jane's parents as being Edward Bell Woten
(April 20, 1763-May 17, 1865) and Jane Gilliland (October 16, 1776-April
24, 1864. There is more information and detail, but it is too extensive
to list here.
I hope to check with Mr. DuBois if it would be possible to post the
information in his publication on my web page. If so, I will let the
list know when I start to do this. Unfortunately, I don't see any of
the happening until spring due to my schedule! ;-/
Hope this helps.

I've been trying to reply to your e-mail of 21 December and have had
problems with the message coming back to me.
That would be fabulous if I could get the info from you about the
Marriages! Is this something that is available for purchase or did you
compile this yourself? I was able to visit the local Barnes & Noble last
week and found a wonderful book full of addresses of interest to
genealogists, i.e., federal, state, and local offices of vital records,
etc. If I can help you or anyone else out with some of these, please let
me know.
To everyone else, I'm looking for any info on my great grandfather JOHN
CLINE/KLINE. His son, JOHN KLINE was born in 1895 and died January of 1971
and resided in Lake City, MI.
Thanks again!!

Catherine ? was born in OH ca 1818. She married an unknown CLINE. It is
uncertain if her husband died in OH, on the way to MO. She married Samuel
Keene in Mississippi Co., MO, on March 11, 1838. Catherine died ca 1880.
Children born to Catherine and her first husband Mr. CLINE in OH are Lucinda,
Charles, Ira and Aaron.
---------
Catherine's second husband was Samuel Keene was born in VA ca 1800 and died
July 10, 1872, Mississippi Co., MO.
The 1850 Mississippi Co., MO, census records list 6 children born to Samuel in
Ohio and brought to MO: Ann, Polly, Benjamin (b. 1825), Elisha (b. 1832),
Riley/Ruby (male b. 1834), and Volumna (b. 1836). Nothing is known about
Samuel's first wife.
Samuel and Catherine's children born MO: The census records list 6 children
born after Samuel and Catherine were married in 1838: Samuel Jr.(b. 1843),
Frances (b. 1847-8), Elyatta (b. 1855), Henry (b. 1859), Arbanna (b. 1865),
and Catherine (?).
--------------
It is uncertain whether Samuel and Catherine knew each other in OH, but the
coincidence of their former residence in OH suggests the families may have
known each other. Their families may have even come to Mississippi Co., MO,
together on a wagon train or by boat down the Ohio River until it converges at
Cairo, IL, into the Mississippi River. (Mississippi Co., MO is only seven
miles from Cairo.)
All help & suggestions appreciated.
