Egidius Grim, of Wurtemberg, Germany, emigrated to America on the ship
"James Goodwill" which sailed from Rotterdam, Holland, and arrived at
Philadelphia on Sept. 11, 1728. He settled in the section of Bucks county
known as Macungie, where he secured a warrant for 100 acres of land on Aug.

sometimes written Gideon. On Nov 19, 1739, he secured a warrant for 250

October 28, 1746, a warrant for another hundred acres was granted to him.
He was naturalized September 27, 1743. He was one of the founders and most
active members of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegel church.

Ziegel Church-- ......Many of the emigrants settled on the slopes and dales

congregations in the county. The organization of the congregation was
effected in the year 1745. Its property was bought w few years later, and
the building of the church occurred still later. In the meantime services
were held in the houses of the members where sermons were read by the
schoolmaster, and occasionally by a minister from a distance ........Among

o In my mother's things I found an undated BELLINGHAM HERALD,
Bellingham (Whatcom County) Washington, newspaper clipping
published before Mother's Day in May in the early 1950s, judging
from other items in her collections. The topic is the Friends of
the Library book collection and awards to children who brought
in the most books for donation. Mr. and Mrs. Fred CARY head the
book sale. Dorothy CLINARD was book contest chairman. The photo
is of Mrs. Fred CARY with second place winner, Jody HARWOOD, 4th
grader at Lowell School, and first place winner, Randy DANIELS,
Sunnyland School 5th grader. Other children and their schools
listed are: Anne MULDER, Whatcom; Chip and David DOUD, Lowell;
Nicki and Roxanne SOLBERG, Mike BILSON, Parkview; Doug CHIN,
Columbia; Lisa CRITCHLOW, Happy Valley; Dean DRAKE, Marietta;
Julie HOOKHAM, Happy Valley; Kelly McCONNELL, Shuksan; Kelly
McIVOR, Happy Valley; Carol METSCHEL, Whatcom; Nancy ROBERTS,
Shuksan; and Christine SCHMITZ, Roosevelt. (My dad, Eliot
GILMORE, was wire editor on the HERALD paper. My mother, Alice
GILMORE GIBBS, taught kindergarten and 3rd grade at Lincoln,
Roeder, and Lowell schools, retiring in 1954. Chuck HARWOOD and
family lived next door to my mother on 21st St. for a few years.
I don't know if there is a connection to this Jodie HARWOOD.)
I will be happy to mail a copy to anyone who wants one.
