I too am a Clifton. My Cliftons came from Michigan & England. My fathers middle name just happens to be Granville. My Grandfather was George M. Clifton and his father was Charles W. Clifton, and there was also a Issac Clifton, Issac and Charles were both in the Civil War. Do any of these names sound familiar? My Name is Julie Clifton Niezgucki---julieclif(a)verizon.net

Hi Albert, my name is David Clifton as well. My Clifton line seems to have
originated in the Delaware USA area back in the 1680's as far as we can
tell. We have not been able to find a link back to England although we know
it must exists. The De Clifton line seemed promising though.
John Clifton, Sr. was born in Sussex, BA(British America)later became Kent
County Delaware, and died date unknown. (His birth was probably before 1727)
William Clifton, b. 1745, Kent County, Delaware, d. 1793, Screven, Co., Ga.
>From there my Clifton family line has been in the Carolinas, Georgia and
Florida ever since.
Best of luck,
David Clifton in sunny Florida!

Hi Bert:
I athink that you caught me at a bad time in life. I am 85 years old and almost blind. In order to trace your Clifton family, you must know what county in England. I traced my family back to the 1500s. My Cliftons are from Cornwall and Devon. I have over 5000 names in my database, if your family come from the same places then I can help. I also have some Clifton's in Melbourn. If you find out where they came from then i can show you how to search for them. The Census for England is easy to use and so is the birth death and marriage. Peace be with you always
Cousin Jack Clifton in sunny Florida

where my family ( wife Jeannie plus two daughters and two grandsons) now
reside.
I would be happy to hear from any" potentially- related" Cliftons who
can add to my very limited knowledge of this side of my family .
Best wishes to all ! Sincerely, 'Bert Westwood

Hello: My name is Albert Ronald Clifton Westwood ...the name Clifton being
a reference to my mother's and grandmother's families . We have Clifton
connections in Australia ,to which my uncle, David Clifton, emigrated after
serving in the British army in the Great War of 1914-18. And there are now
a host of Cliftons living in the Melbourne area , some of whom I have
had the pleasure of meeting.
I grew up in Birmingham ,England and was educated at King Edwards
School and the University there ( PhD-1956) . My wife, singer-actress
Jeannie ,and I emigrated as part of the "brain drain " to the USA in 1958 ,
intending to stay for two years ! But I joined the company now called
Lockheed Martin, and then spent most of my career with various parts of that
corporation , eventually as VP for Research and Development at the HQ in
Washington, and then at the Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque , New Mexico ,
where my family ( wife Jeannie plus two daughters and two grandsons) now
reside.
I would be happy to hear from any" potentially- related" Cliftons who
can add to my very limited knowledge of this side of my family .
Best wishes to all ! Sincerely, 'Bert Westwood
