Searching for information on John Wesley Clifton. He came to Wood County, Ohio, in the late 1800's. He was possibly from the Pittsburg, PA area. He was born about 1862. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I'm looking for information regarding the
following: My great-grandfather's name was Robert
Clifton Atkins, b. est. 1865, d. 1913 in Apache, OK.
Married Eliza Booth Atkins.
Nothing is known about his background except he
supposedly came from the Renoake, VA area. He was
native american to some degree, his nickname around
town was 'Indian Bob.'
I have seen famlies with the surnames of Clifton,
Atkins (and Booth/Kendall/Minor) all residing close
by,in VA before 1865 (Orange Co. for example). Does
any of this sound familiar?
Thank you,
Laurie

I am wondering if anyone "out there" is researching the same Clifton family I
am. My Clifton ancestors were Wilson Clifton b ca 1800 where? m Susannah ?(
possibly MANSFIELD) b ca 1816 SC or TN Wilson Clifton bought property
located in Tippah County, MS while in Fayette County, TN in 1852. Wilson
disappears from the scene and in the 1860 census of Tippah County, Susannah
Clifton is head of the household and paying taxes on the same land Wilson
bought in 1852. The children of W and S were: Samantha b 1836 b TN, Patrick
H. b 1838, b Hardeman Co., TN, Amanda b 1842 TN, Hetty b 1846 TN, Analiza b
1848 TN, MANSFIELD WILLIAM ( my ancestor) b 1851TN and Sarah E b 1859 TN.
I would love to hear from anyone descended from this family or who has
knowledge of them. I mean LOVE to! Joan Weeks Martin

I have been researching the Clifton's lines in KY for several years My direct
line is the Owen Co KY bunch. My branch also lived in DE and moved to KY by
1803. Another group that lived in the area lived in VA and another located
in Casey Co came from SC. I have a missing son of one Edward/Edmond Clifton
born 1780 Sussex Co DE he moved his family to Scott/Pendleton Co [now Grant
Co] by 1803
1810 Census; Pendleton County, Kentucky
Edward +45, Wife 45+
1 son 10/16 (1794-1800) Unknown
1 son under 10 (1800-1809) Daniel 1800
1 daughter under 10, (1800-1809) Nancy 1801
1 daughter 10/16 (1794-1800) Jemimah abt 1799
Son Daniel moves his family to Greensup Co KY by 1830 I wonder if your Thomas
could be Edward's missing son?????? Campbell Co is not that far from Owen &
Daniel did move to Greensup Co [his wife had family there] If you find any
further information please contact me I would love to finally fig out who the
missing sone is :)
I have my Clifton family history listed on my web page
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rootdigger/
I just added a serchable data base on the Clifton's

Does anyone know the origins of the towns: Clifton, Clifton Junction and

out. Thanks Joan Martin

Hello, Do any of you listers know King Clifton, Mary Keen or Elsie Clifton
that married John Byrd? They lived around Tazewell or Buchanan Co. Va., in
the early 1900, s.
Cheryl -
I don't know if this is the same Thomas & Nancy Clifton, but my
husband's ggg-grandparents were Thomas Clifton & Nancy Wells. Thomas was b.
ca 1743 in SC, and died 30 Sep 1832 in Chilicothe, Ross Co., Ohio. Wife
Nancy died after 18 April 1821. I know they were in Ohio in July 1795 (was
Ohio a state then?) when their daughter Anna Clifton was born. I do not have
any other children listed for them - but believe Thomas served in the
Revolutionary War.
