Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I'm looking for any information about Clyde Clifton all I know is
that he was the Sheriff of Collier County, Fl for about 30 years
in the 20's and 30's. If anyone has any information I would love
to hear from them. He was my great grandfathers brother but I
don't know if he was younger or older. His name was Lee Decatur
Clifton born 4 April 1880 died 17 Dec. 1945 in Bartow Polk Co.,
Fl. Fathers name Hawkins Clifton died 1886 in Santa Rosa Co., Fl
Mother Emma Bartilda (Matilda) Renfroe I have no other info on her.

I know there are many Milton Clifton's out there, but the one I am
researching is as follows:
Milton Clifton: b. Sept, 1829, TN, d. 17 Jun, 1906, Iron, MO, m. 1849,
Wayne, MO
wife: Leannah Ruble, b. 1831, Greene, TN, d. 1892, Iron, MO
Children: Ashsah, Emily, Charles H., Peter, Sophronia, Henry C., and
Elizabeth.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Bob
The continuing saga of lost Benjamin. I have just learned the maiden name
of Elizabeth who took two of Benjamin Clifton's children, William and David
to raise in Steubenville, OH about 1848/49, it was Messick. Elizabeth was
born in DE 1794. She may have married in Titusville, PA to Solomon
Risden/Risdon, then moved a few years later to OH.
The other two children, Zerilda & John Wesley were taken to Macoupin Co. IL
by John and Lydia Seaton. Lydia could have been sister to Elizabeth.
Another possible, is that Benjamin's wife (another Lydia) name looks like
Menuth, but could be Messick.
Lastly, does anyone know anything about William Clifton from DE, married in
Steubenville in 1798 to Sarah Newell. He is the right age to have been the
father of both Benjamin & John who married Agnes McCullough 1836, Lory m.
Arthur VanKirk 1819 and Theodore m. Margaret A. Harlan 1831. However, can't
find William in any of the censuses in Steubenville.
Appreciate any crumb. Faith

Anyone else on the list getting these messages regarding Richard
Clifton?
>Your message was not delivered to: "richard clifton"
<richard.clifton(a)fel0152.x400.icl.co.uk> for the following reason:
>Transfer impossible Unknown addressee
On taking a second look at this situation, I believe that I too have
gotten this type of message after posting a message to the Clifton
list. It is almost as if Richard Clifton was a previous subscriber and
now messages from the list going out to him are bouncing. Instead of
just the owner of the list getting the rejection message, people on the
list are getting it too. Perhaps the server he was using is set to send
out the rejection message to "all" addresses instead of just the list
address.
I think it might be corrected by the list owner removing Richard Clifton
from the list under the bad address.
richard.clifton(a)fel0152.x400.icl.co.uk

It seems that you sent your original message to
CLIFTON-L-request(a)rootsweb.com instead of CLIFTON-L(a)rootsweb.com . Only
subscribe and unsubscribe messages should be sent with the request
address. Richard Clifton must be the list owner.
Hope this helps.
