http://www.zyworld.com/JamesBohun/index.htm
Surname Interests - BOGANNY, BUNN, CLIFTON, DANIELS, NUNES MARTINES, MENDOZA, PHIPPS, TOLEDANO,TUBI.
Initial Message - My greatx2 grandfather was Frank Clifton b.abt 1842 son of Thomas Clifton, gentleman. Frank was an acrobat, famous in his day. He married Sarah Toledano in London 1869, they had Joseph, Joshua, Alfred probably more, all acrobats and comedians in Music hall in UK and toured abroad. My great grandfather Franks son was Joseph Clifton alias Joe Boganny famous music hall artiste born Liverpool UK 1874, died London 1943. He had atleast four sons Samuel alias Sam Linfield, acrobat, Victor Boganny acrobat, Eric Boganny acrobat, and Cyril Boganny comedian all stage names. There were also Jessie Clifton, a Jack, John and Billy all musical clowns.
So far I have only located the marriages of Frank & Sarah and his son Joseph to Betsy Yellowitz in Birmingham 1893, not located on any UK census or found in and B D or M index. Has anyone any knowledge of a UK Clifton family famous in the circus, stage and music halls circa 1870's - 1940's.Thanks.

I have always believed that the Georgia Clifton's connect SOMEHOW to my
Clifton from DE/MD. There were two Levin's in DE my direct line born abt
1770 [son of George grandson of Thomas] lived in Sussex Co DE he did have a
son Levin Jr the only records I have on him are:
1749 - Will of Elijah Stewart
Levin (Jr.) was mentioned in the will of an Elijah Stewart as a foot note;
"Mary Start married Levin Clifton." It is unclear as to her relationship to
Elijah Start, his widow or daughter and no marriage date was given.
1800 - Census Records
St. Jones 100's, Kent County, Delaware: Levin 26/45, 1 son 10/16, wife 26/45,
1 daughter 10/16
Three of Levin Sr sons moved to Owen Co KY Edward, Noah and my direct line
David.
Now the second Levin [from my notes]:
".......also lived in Sussex County, Delaware but on the Delaware Bay side in
the Broadkiln 100's. Because of the proximity of the area where Thomas
settled [my direct line] some researchers believe this Levin to be the son of
George. After carefully checking land records and other connection, we find
this not to be true. At this time we cannot identify the father of the
second Levin or any family connection. "
This Levin born abt the same time as my Levin had sons Aaron and Phillip. I
will have to look back at some old research notes I did not have a lot on
this family have always thought some how the two families connected. I found
a transcription of this Levin's will in the Sussex Co records you might want
to try and see if you connect to this family. Would very much like to find
out if a connection is made.
Good luck with your research Barbara Guinn

Here is my post a month or so ago, but these may be the same family as the
most recent post asking about Aaron Clifton The McGees settled in Troup
County after the Cherokees were sold out @1923/7
I am searching for the ancestors of 3 sisters:
Dianna/Diane/Ann MADDUX m.@1799 in Abbeville SC to James McGEE b@1775
Jennie MADDUX b? m. Aaron CLIFTON b aft. Revolution.
Elizabeth MADDUX b? m. Levin CLIFTON, Jr. b aft. Rev.
The three sisters married the sons of immigrant Elizabeth FLOYD [Elizabeth's
maiden name] MCGEE[widowed in Rev. in SC] CLIFTON. She married Levin
CLIFTON, Sr. after the Revolution.
The sisters and their husbands went to GA.
James McGEE died in Clarke Co. GA in 1808.
Dianna/Diane/Ann Maddux McGee died @1810-15. Her sister Jennie and Husband
Aaron CLIFTON became guardians of Ann's boys [McGees].
Anyone having any info on SC>GA Maddux's who married into the CLIFTONs, or
any info on Levin CLIFTON, Sr, his sons, and the family's whereabouts would
be appreciated.
Thank you,
Tory Braden
Looking for more information on these Clifton's listed on the 1820 Clarke
County, Ga census - Aaron age 26-45, George age 45+, George Jr age 26-45,
and William age 16-26.
George (Sr) married Millie Brown Feb 23, 1807 Clarke Co, GA. He was born
about 1761. He was first married to Elizabeth Dickenson.
George (Jr) has a male age 16-18 head of household catagory living with his
family. I have read that after the death of Elizabeth one of George's (Sr)
sons, Clement Floyd Clifton, was raised by an older brother. Clement was
born 1803 GA.
Are Aaron, William and George Jr son's of George Clifton?
1830 Troup County, GA:
Clement F Clifton age 20-30 catagory
William Clifton age 30-40
Thomas Clifton age 20-30
Is this the same William as the 1820 census? Is this Thomas Clifton later
found in Clay County, AL with wife Liddy Vining?
