<< Hi Alice,
I have searched the CLIFTON line to James Clifton(b. 1814) and John
Clifton(b. 1822). I have not found a Kizziah Clifton. She would probably be
of the generation preceeding James and John. I have no information on that
generation and have not been able to find any. There were several CLIFTONS in
the Washington County, NC(then Tyrell County) marriage records in the late
1700s so I know that there were CLIFTONs in the county. I have searched
everywhere as I am trying to link James and John who I feel were either
brothers or cousins. James was my 3g grandfather. He was married to Sarah Ann
Collins(b.1816). I have had no luck with her either other than the fact that
her grandfather was Caleb Collins. I cannot find out what Sarah's father's
name was.
In the 1850 census there was a Kizziah Collins living in the same household
as Emanuel Collins. there was also Charlotte(b. abt 1820), Ellen (b.abt1830)
William(b. abt 1833) and John(abt 1834)Collins also in the same household. I
feel reasonably sure that Sarah Ann Collins is related to this family but I
have nothing to substantiate it.
Would you have any information on a William Gray Collins b. about 1836. I
don't know when he died but it was after 7 July 1902 as that was the date on
his "Soldier's Application for Pension" based on his Confederate service.
I wish I could be of more help. I certainly would appreciate any
information you might find.

Hi Bob,
I have not been able to down load the file you sent me. Would you send it
once more? I can open a ged. file. I have been in touch with someone named
Dot who is presently in Florida and going to summer home in Chowan Co.,NC
next week. She also decends from Sarah Collins (b1816) and James A. Clifton.
I believe you said this is your line, is that right? She names their
children as
1 Henderson
2 Nancy
3 Elizabeth
4 Mark or Margaret ??
5 Jimaine
6 Mary
7 Amanda Caroline (this is Dot's line)
wed John Hampton Sawyer
Dot said that Sarah's sisters and brothers are John (1834), William (1833),
Ellen (1830), Charlotte (1820), and Emanuel (1816)
(Could this William be the William Gray Collins that you asked me about?)
She believes that their parents are Kizziah (1793) and Joseph Collins, but
does not have proof.
What is your full name, and are you from the Washington Co. area?
Who were your parents, grand, great grand parents?
What do you know about Caleb Collins?
She will be intouch with me again next week.
Maybe we can get to the bottom of this if enough of us work on it
together....
Waiting to hear from you
