Hello Everyone:
I cannot find a volunteer to search the following CD's. If you have access
to either, would you check for:
CLIFTON BRECKENRIDGE from VA or KY, circa 1840.
CD 185 Kentucky Genealogies #1
CD 202 Virginia Genealogies
My connection is to a Clifton Breckenridge of the Bardstown, KY, area, who
was probably the son of an ELIZABETH CLIFTON or ELIZABETH LYONS and a MR.
BRECKENRIDGE. They were connected to the HOUSEN CLIFTON and/or THOMAS
LYONS
families.
Any leads much appreciated.

Ok, know you have all helped a bunch looking for Benjamin b. abt 1820 -
(although I am still dead-ended - you guys have really tried) now, does
anyone have any Cliftons in Howell Co, MO??? There's a John there , really
close date on my John Wesley and says he's born in Union Co, IL - mine
suppose to be Macoupin - but not one of the records on any of these people
have been the same. I can't see GG Grandmother Zerilda Clifton calling West
Plains, MO her "home" because her husband had family there, so believe there
had to be a Clifton - with David and William (other brothers) in OH - that
leaves John.
There's also a James A. Clifton m. Rebecca Smith 24 Dec 1891 - and a John C.
Clifton - later date - property owner. Any crumb appreciated. Faith

Yes. John C. Clifton was my great grandfather. He was married to a
Nancy Fish (his second wife) with whom they had five (I think)
children. My grandfather was William Clifton. He married Harriett
(Kate) Drennon and they had six children (one died shortly after
birth). William died in 1920. Grandmother Kate moved to Colorado
with the children where she died 3 years later.
John C's father was Sam Clifton who was a Baptist Minister in Union
Co, Illinois. He died when John was very young. John entered the
union army on January 2, 1862 at age 14 (he claimed 17). The unit was
the 60th Illinois Infantry. He went all the way through the war being
wounded once.
Where and how he met his first wife is not known, and I don't know
whether there was any children by that marriage. He was ordained a
Baptist minister and moved to howell Co, MO, where he met and marriedd
Nancy Fish.
If you know any more about this line of cliftons I would appreciate
anything you have.
REgards,
B.R. Clifton
