I just got to this post and I've noticed some Delaware Cliftons on there.I'm
researching some cliftons also.
I have a Howard Thomas Clifton born Nov 22,1879.I'm trying to find
information on his parents-Thomas Decator Clifton And his wife Susan Rebecka
Carson all of Wilmington,Del.
Also on Buelah Vera Green who was the wife of Howard Thomas Clifton.Any help
would be appreciated.
Thank You

I'm still looking for info on Jonathan Clifton, born abt 1767 and married
wife #1(Ursley Wood) 6/16/1795 in Campbell Co, VA and wife #2(Polly
Martin?) 6/8/1827 in Franklin Co, VA. He died after 1850 in Franklin Co,
VA.
I'm kind of hoping that someone new to our list may recognize this .
Thanks, John(Napa, CA).
Charles Clifton born between 1814-1820 in Delaware. Married Elizabeth Ann
??? Moved to Warren county, IL sometime between 1840 and 1850. At that time
had these children:
John age 15, Harvey age 14, Higgins age 12, Amelia age 8, Charles W. age 7,
Thomas P age 5, Angeline age 3, Ruth Ann age 1.
Harvey is not listed with these Cliftons but is listed living with a family of
Sheltons just a few doors away. The Sheltons names are Henry or Harry or Harvey
and Mary Shelton. I am guessing that Mary was a Clifton before marrying or that
Elizabeth was a Shelton before she married Charles. Does anyone have any
information on these people?

Boy what you can find going through old email a cousin that goes back to my

Her family goes to MO and then to TX
Hope this helps. Barbara
With so many researching DE Clifton's I had to post the following. Some of
you may know Ruth Clifton (She is not on our list or has a computer) I was
introduced to her by Ted Clifton and have received copies of some of her
work. For those of you who know her I just talked with her about 2 months
ago and she doing well.
Ruth's, Ted's and my Delaware lines have not been connected but we feel some
where they probably are may have to go back to England to find that. Any way
I found an old email 1998 sent to me by a cousin of hers and wanted to share
Ruth's DE line just in case. If any one wants further information I can give
you the cousins email address (if it's still good)

Looking for info on Ezekiel CLIFTON b. 1759 to Daniel CLIFTON and Susannah CHANCE in Sussex DE.
I found the IGI record above, and trying to identify this Ezekiel as possibly my ancestor who appears in Franklin Co., NC 1799 -1816, then in Scott Co., VA 1818-1825, then Lawrence Co., TN 1825-1836, then Benton Co., MO 1840 - ?.
Anyone know of this Daniel CLIFTON or my Ezekiel?
Mark in Carmel, CA
There is a book by Todd Johnson titled,
"Clifton's Here and Yonder" It had "my"
CLIFTON's in it. (altho' with a few errors)
These Clifton family members are from
Delaware, Virginia and North Carolina.
The Ezekiel mentioned herein names his
wife, Sarah, in his will dated
14 Mar 1792, Jones Co., NC
and Sarah names in her will children:
Nathan, Daniel, Ezekiel:
and deceased husband, Ezekiel.
Sarah's will dated May 1812 Jones Co., NC.
I do not own a copy of the book. (but would like to.)

I would be VERY INTERESTED in any information on CLIFTON BOYS that moved to
Georgia. We have been trying to find a connection back to Delaware to
possible connect a Georgia line to our Kentucky line. I have had several
people write me about this possibility but no luck on any connection.
Be careful there are several Daniels in Delaware, I have some information on
them and you can also find a lot of this on Carla's page.

Please let me/us know if you do find a connection. Thank you Barbara

Just wanted to pass along a note I received from a "NEW" cousin we been
trying to connect his William to our Owen Co Kentucky Missouri line and when
he sent me the following we had a match. Noah Clifton had 4 sons one died
young the other 3 sons Milton, Wyatt and Alfred moved to Lewis and Clark Co.
Missouri and raised their families there. The William he is researching is
Milton's son and the other boys mentioned were sons of Wyatt and Alfred. If
you want to know more on this family please check my web page

Dear Barb,
A possibly important note that I didn't mention in my earlier e-mail today is
that Minor Clifton and John Clifton were both in William's unit. I now have
a clear copy of the notebook that William kept with the roster of soldiers
and a record of their movements. My brother has William's cavalry sword.
This John died in Aug, 1865 in a regimental hospital. His mother's name was
Mary and her husband was Wyatt who died in 1846. Mary applied for a pension
pertaining to John's service. John was single.
Minor was born 1/15/44 in Owen County KY. His four wives were Sarah Garish,
Sarah Blithen, Netty Bozart, and last but not least, Mary R. Burrus. They
lived in Newark and Greensburg, MO. Minor received an early pension because
of serious eye trouble, and was nearly blind at the end. He died 2/26/16.
And here is the good part: his parents were Alfred and Hester Clifton.
Incidentally, Minor's fourth wife had three former husbands. Death was
really stalking the land back then, right?
I hope these items could be of some help in my quest. If not, at least a few
minutes diversion for you. I wonder why Minor and John's parents are
mentioned in their papers and not Williams. Ah, yes, it is because THAT is
what I am searching for!
