George Clifton was b. about 1796 place
unknown. His father may have been Levin
Clifton and mother Elizabeth Floyd McGee.
Children : James Marian- Martha A.C.
Mary Ann are certain.. Others who could be
children are: George, Elijah P. Thomas and
John. Any help with this family would be
appreciated. Thanks Jan ,
I work on the John and Nancy Clifton family, who had five boys and two
girls, that I know of: Elizabeth b c1794, William b 1796, John Robert b
1802, Elias b 1809, Nancy Sarah b 1810, Martin Jones b 1811 and Emanuel
b 1813.
I do not know were John was born or when he first came to Henry Co VA.
He did settle in Henry Co and I believe his children were all born
there. Nancy was born in 1778 in North Carolina. Her maiden name and
County of birth are unknown. The children resettled, some in Rockingham
Co NC, some in Patrick Co VA and Russell Co VA and Hawkins Co TN.
I thought that the Clifton ancestors came from England. This is the
first I have heard of a German ancestry.

Hi, My name is David O. Clifton. I have been trying to trace my family
tree and have run into a block wall. I have been able to go back to Five
brothers that moved to Patrick County Va. In the 1790s. Their parents were
John and Nancy Clifton. I can find no clue to where they came from, when
they were married or born, nothing. I have heard rumors that John may have
come over from Germany with two brothers.
Any information you may have would be appreciated.
Thanks Dave EMAIL - David.O.Clifton(a)wawa.com
I have been hearing rummers but now it's official just received this from a
