HI:
I’m researching BENJAMIN CLIFT of King George Co., VA. He moved to Mason Co., KY sometime after 1800.
His daughter JOANNA married THOMAS BERRY in Fayette Co., KY. She inherited the slave SEYMOUR from her father.
Joanna and her son THOMAS JEFFERSON BERRY emancipated Seymour in 1838 in Mason Co., KY. He took the surname PRYOR.
I am tracing Seymour after 1838 in Mason County. He doesn’t show up in the 1840 Census by name, but there are many free African Americans living in Mason Countyf who were enumerated but not identified. They were living on farms owned by whites.
I appreciate all leads to records that will help me find out where Seymour lived after he was emancipated. He had at least one child, Mariah, born in 1836. Mariah’s mother was Parmitia.
Thank you.

These two are rumored on several trees to be parents of our 2nd ggrandmother, Mary Ann Roach (m. James Henry Bryant; Blount, TN 1839); however, I can find no actual records attesting to it. The only record of the parents is their Blount TN marriage record.
Is anyone familiar with this family? I would appreciate hearing; thanks.
