I am researching the Clift family in the parishes of Silchester, Bramley and Stratfield Turgis, Hampshire. The earliest reference I have found is a will of John Clyffe in Silchester (1613). His wife was Margery and her will is dated 1621. I would be very interested to hear from you if you are linked to the Clift family in Hampshire!

I can find my GG Grandfather Alfred Clift in the Mason Co census through 1860. In 1880 he is in Cincinnati OH living with his daughter. In searching (page by page) the Mason Co. census for 1870, I cannot find any Clifts in the section for Washington or Maysville. Does anyone know what happened to the Clifts? They appeared to be farmers and landowners so did they lose their land during the civil war? Or does anyone know where Alfred and Louisa J. Clift are in the 1870 census? Thanks.
