What happened to these two daughters of Joseph & Sarah Collie Clift? Dorcus was b 1856 and Tenecia 1860. (Names are hard to read on the censuses.) I last found them on the 1880 census in Howard Co., AR living in the household of their older sister Mary and her husband Joel Chandler.

Message Board Post:
Does anyone know what happened to the Joseph Clift b 1828 in AL, son of Wm W. Clift? He married Sarah Collie 17 Feb 1850 in Hot Spring Co., AR. He is on the 1850 & 1860 censuses but dies before 1870 census, possibly in Civil War. I originally thought he might have been the J.S. Clift of the "Fairplay Riflemen" who was captured at Island #10 and sent to Camp Butler, IL and died there May 20, 1862, but I recently found that was Jackson Clift, son of Harlan. There is another Joseph in Cocke's Ark Inf, Co I, who enlisted at Rockport, was captured at Helena and rejoined 28 Feb 1864. Help!!!

I'm trying to trace anyone who might have the marriage of John Clyffe to Alyce Herod on 10th september 1539 in their family tree to establish if there are any connections between this family and my own.
