Greetings,
Thank you to those who have responded to my earlier query. Actually it was not as vague as some might think. I was seeking responses from those who had discovered these migration patterns in their own lines. I have received several responses that were appropriate to the question. Rose
Hello Rose,
If the parents of your CLIFFORDs were born in NH in the late 18th or early 19th century, they were almost certainly descended from John CLIFFORD of Hampton, NH. Many of John's descendants moved west, but I haven't come across many that moved south.
However, by 1860 the first Irish-born CLIFFORDs had arrived in NH. They may have had children that went west too.
I have considerable info on John Clifford's descendants. If you can be more specific about names and dates, I may be able to help you make a connection.

Subject: New England CLIFFORDS moving West or South before 1860
Greetings,
Is anyone tracking CLIFFORDS who left New England and moved South (for example to VA) or settled in OH or further west (for example CA or OR) ?
I am finding CLIFFORDS in Oregon whose parents were born in NH.
What was the process for Rev War Vets receiving land and which CLIFFORD lines took advantage of this?
Where did the CLIFFORDS of South Carolina originate?
Thanks, Rose
