John Henry Clifford.
My Clifford kinfolk were in WVa in the 1880 census. My grandmother
Margaret was born to this family in 1881. The 1880 census listed a John
age 5 (among others) which would make his birth date 1875. I found a
John Henry Clifford born in Belmont O to Joseph and Mary Clifford my g.
grandparents. I looked on a map and Belmont O is adjacent to Marshall
County in WVa. Is this John Henry my great uncle? I don't know for sure
but circumstantial evidence hints that.
Jospeh was born in Ireland circa 1844. where I do not know. Mary
Goodwin was born in Saltsburg Pa but I have no other information except
the 1880 census. It's a mystery to me.

My gg granfather John Henry Clifford found in the Sanduskey County, Ohio 1850 census was 34 years old and was from Ct. His wife Elizabeth is listed as 30 years of age and from NY. Her maiden name was Graner and they were married in Sanduskey County, OH in 1837.
I have been unsuccessful in finding the parents of this John Henry Clifford born in approximately 1816.
My g grandfather was Chaplin Clefford born in 1849 in Ohio. Chaplin and most of his siblings were found in Porter County, IN in the 1880 Census.
As for the name being spelled Clefford for my g grandfather, I can only offer that my father said he was told there was a horse thief in the Clifford line some where along the way. By the time my father Ross Clifford was born (3/08/1900), the name was back to Clifford.
Any help in finding the parents of John Henry Clifford would be appreciated.
