Hi! I am Cathy Flynn and I have lived in Council Bluffs, IA, for 10 years.
I grew up in Boston & Weymouth Massachusetts.
I am looking for information on Michael Patrick Clifford, son of Patrick
Michael Clifford and Nora Sullivan AND Michael's wife, Hannah (Johanna)
Sullivan, daughter of Patrick Sullivan and Mary Hurley. Basically, I am
looking for anything I can find on their families as I know a lot about them.
They are my grandparents.
Their info:
Michael Patrick Clifford, b. September 16, 1899, to Patrick Michael Clifford
and Nora Sullivan, at Laharn in the Parish of Killorglin.
He was baptized at St. James Church, Killorglin, on September 17, 1899, by
Reverend H. Kerin (?) LL. (Not sure about that, writing is illegible.)
I believe Michael had 2 brothers, John and Pat, & 2 sisters, Peg & Mary. He
immigrated to the US in April of 1916.
Johanna Sullivan, b. June 17, 1901, to Timothy Sullivan and Mary Hurley, at
W. Gurrane N. in the Parish of Killorglin.
She was baptized at St. James Church, Killorglin, on June 17, 1901, by the
Reverent Thomas Lawlor, PP.
I believe Hannah had 8 siblings--brothers, John, Brendan & Mike and sisters,
Molly, Kate, Bridie, Liz & Sheila.
She also immigrated to Boston but I don't know when.
Although Michael and Hannah attended the same schools they never met in
Ireland. Their first meeting was in Boston somewhere around 1927 or so (not
sure about the year.)
They married at Our Lady of Perpetual Hope Church, on October 25, 1930 and
had 3 stillborn (one set of twins and 1 single) babies and then had 4 healthy
children.
I know nothing else except that Michael's paternal grandfather may have been
named John Clifford b. 1819. Any information would be appreciated. I do
know that my mother's cousins are still living somewhere in Kerry she passed
away in 1977 and no one else seems to remember. Hannah's mothers last know
address written down in about 1950 and it was:
Mary Sullivan
Sunhill
Tiernaboule, Killarney
County Kerry, Ireland
Any lead I can get on the rest of Mike and Hannah's siblings and ancestors
would be greatly appreciated.
Cathy Flynn
I am trying to find Joseph Clifford who was born in Ireland about 1844.
He immigrated to the U.S. and married Mary Goodwin from Pa. In 1880 they
were living in WVA with 7 children. James, Nancy, Kathrine, John Henry,
Joseph and Treacie. In 1881 my grandmother Margaret was born to this
family but I don't know what happened to the 7 children nor their
parents. Nothing before 1880 and nothing after 1880. Nothing in the
census and I haven't found cemeteries where they are buried. A mystery!
