Hi everybody
I have joined the list to see if there is anyone who may be able to help
me. I have an ancestor called CLIFFORD WALLETT who was born in Hull
England c1832 to John(a mariner) and Margaret WALLETT nee GILLIES.
Clifford followed in Wallett traditions and became a clown but died aged
21 years after paralysis. I understand that Clifford as a Christian
name was quite rare at this time and I think he must have been called
after either an ancestor with the surname Clifford or someone around
that time who may have been well known with the surname Clifford. Would
the list agree with me on this and if so do they know of a famous
CLIFFORD c1832 or are there any Yorkshire Cliffords out there who may
have been connected to the family in Hull.
Best wishes

First of all I apologise to any of you who are receiving duplicates of this
email, I sent to every list that I belong to. I just wanted to pass this
along,
FYI:
Hello,
I live in St. Louis, Missouri and saw on the local news tonight that there
is a BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK - 1843 - 1963 ( North St. Louis) that is
looking for persons with family buried there. The airport is being expanded
and they are going to move the CEMETERY.
Is there a way to get this message to as many listers as possible in a
short amount of time?
Can you help!

Hi, All. I ordered some probate records from IRAD in Carbondale and
found that one of the records I ordered is not of my family. Here is
the information, if anyone wants to claim them:
William Clifford: died December 4, 1886; a resident of Venice, IL. The
estate was administered by Christian Ahrens. No surviving wife and
children. Heirs included his mother, Honora/Hanora ("Nora") Clifford
and his brother, Michael H. Clifford.
If you're interested, please e-mail me.
Sincerely,
Myra Ann
I would like to contact any Clifford's living in Leicestershire, England, where my family originally came from, or anyone related to them, especially the area around Kegworth, Diseworth, Loughborough.
Best wishes,
Gary Clifford

I am searching for descendants, as well as further information about this
family.
William Clifford was born about 1852 in London. He was married a second time
after his first wife died about 1880. He, his
wives, and all of their children were born in London. The children by his
first wife are:
William, born about 1873.
Arthur, born about 1875.
George, born about 1877.
Florence, born about 1878.
It is unknown when their half-brother, Alfred, by William Sr.'s second wife
was born, but it was likely not long after 1881.
William Clifford Sr. was a bootmaker and owned a shoestore, along with some
other property.
William Clifford Jr. and half-brother Alfred stayed in England. William also
became a shoestore owner like his father. Alfred
inherited a painted portrait of his father, of which I hope to ascertain as
to whether it still exists.
Arthur, George, and Florence all emigrated to Canada, about 1904. They lived
in Winnipeg and then Brandon, Manitoba.
Arthur and George later went on to the United States, and had descendants
who lived in places like Minneapolis and Denver.
I am seeking descendants, further information on the family, and any
information on William Clifford's lost portrait.

Hi, All. I have recently come across a lot of new information on these
Cliffords and thought I would post it to see if any else connects.
John Clifford (b. 1813, Quarndon, Derby, England; died February 1869,
Alton, IL)
married 1836 (Duffield, Derby) to:
Lydia "Sarah" Barnes (b. 1812, Warrington, Leicester, England; died
October 1869, Alton, IL)
Immigrated to Illinois 1855. All children were born in Quarndon except
the last, Sarah Anna Margaret. Names and dates below:
1. Lydia Barnes Clifford (b. 1838) married Ralph Dixon (also of
England) 1857 in St. Louis, MO. Continued to live in Alton, IL, area.
2. Gisela Clifford (b. 1842) married Joshua Rain (location unknown,
between 1855 and 1869). Do not appear to have lived in the Alton area.
3. John B. Clifford (b. 1844; d. 1874 in Alton, IL) married Ellen
___________ between abt. 1868-1870. Continued to live in Alton area.
4. Thomas Clifford (b. 1846; probably died between 1846 and 1859 as he
does not show up in the 1860 IL Census)

________ (b. in Alabama, parents born in TN).
6. Isabella J. ("Belle") Clifford married Joshua Rain between 1869 and
1874. No other information available.
7. Mary Ann Clifford (b. 1854) apparently didn't marry.
8. Sarah Anna Margaret Clifford (b. 1857 in Alton, IL) married John E.
Williams on April 6, 1882, in Roadhouse, Greene, IL. John was born 1865
in Wales.
I am told there should be two more males in this family, but I have
found no trace of them in any census or records.
If anyone would like the names of the children of John or Charles
Clifford, I'd be glad to send them on.
Sincerely,
Myra Best Christeck
