Greetings,
It appears that there are persistent gaps in these lines. I'm hoping other researchers can help me with these:
1) Still no further evidence of George's "loving brother James Clifford" whom George named as overseer of his will?
2) Still no maiden name for Mary, wife of the patriarch George Clifford?
3) Still no name for the wife of George's son, James Clifford, who died in 1782?
4) Still unclear if Edward Clifford, George Clifford, and Martin Clifford found in the 1790 Fayette County, PA census are linked to George's descendants found in Westmoreland County, PA?
Is this Edward the son of Charles Clifford (1730 - 1816) by Charles' first wife? Is this George the same as Charles' brother, George? Is this Martin the son of Charles' brother, George?
5) Still no name for Charles Clifford's first wife before Jane Gordon (1738 - 1802)? What became of Charles' other son by his first wife, Robert Cifford?
6) Still no sons identifed for John Clifford of Beaver County, PA who was George of NJ's oldest son? Know that this John was married to Elizabeth Stoops, who then married Lot Cottle in OH after John Clifford's death in 1831. (See Rev. War Pension File.) Possible that John and Elizabeth's daughter, Isabella Clifford, married Chester Waite in 1832 in OH and daughter, Mary Clifford, married Oliver Wardwell in 1834 in OH. Did John have a son, Cunningham Clifford?
7) Why did Charles and Jane (Lytle) Clifford's sons, Joseph Clifford and John Clifford, go to Ohio County, VA? (See 1840 & 1850 VA censuses.)
8) Is it accepted that Edward Clifford, George's grandson who died intestate in 1790, was unmarried and had no children?
9) I would like to determine if James Clifford found in the 1790 VA census can connect to these NJ lines. Believe his wife was Prudence White, daughter of Alexander White, Sr. of Sussex County, NJ. Two of Alexander, Sr.'s sons, Alexander White, Jr. and Samuel White, were in Hardy County, VA in the 1790s during the same period as James and Prudence Clifford. Think they migrated from NJ together. Still no further clues on this?
Willing to share what I have. Hope to hear from you.
Rose
