I am doing research on my CLIFFORD Family and because I have verry little info I am contacting anyone with info on the CLIFFORD name.
Here is what little info I have to go on.
My G Grandfather was Richard Harry CLIFFORD. He was born in Ireland April 12, 1850. His parents names were Patrick CLIFFORD and Mary or Delia Josephine ST. LEDGER (LEGER) CLIFFORD. He immigrated with his parents to the United States when he was 3-7 monthes old, making the date for immigration, July or November, 1850. It is said that the family lived in New York. His mother is said to have died when he was 27 months old. This would make her death date July of 1852. Some of his sibling's names were supposed to be, a brother, Patrick, three sisters, Delia, Anna, and Mary, all being born in Ireland. At age 14 he ran away from home but was found. Again at age 17 he ran away from home and never returned again or had contact with his family. Family folklore says he ran away so as to avoid priesthood. He became a Scout and was with Buffalo Bill the second time he ran away. (This was told to the family by his daughter.) His nickname while a scout was, Curley. He married Emily A. CORSON!
, daughter of Eli CORSON and Sarah RAFFERTY, CORSON, on July 7, 1877, in Dennison, Iowa. He died in 1922 in Beaver County, OK and is buried in Forgan Cemetery.
It has been told that St. Ledger (Leger) are from County Down. My uncle had this written in some information. I don't know if this is where I should start looking or not?

this a possible connection?

I am looking for information on my g-g-great Grandfather, Capt. Ebenezer
Clifford. Born in 1810 in Unity, Maine. Was said to be of good old New
England stock, showing had relatives going back aways. It also said his
mother died when he was 1-1/2 yrs old. Was then raised by his grandmother.
Ebenezer sailed on the old ship Tamerlane out of Wiscasset Maine when he was
11, as a cabin boy. Later became it's Capt.
He married Harriet Clifford, in 1838, in Edgecomb , Maine. Harriet had the
same last name, but no relation to Ebenezer's line.
They had at least one child: Edward Clifford in 1848 in Bath Maine. They
all moved after 1851 to Illinois.
Ebenezer 1810 born in Unity, ME
Harriet 1817 born (believe in Boston) (But,LDS Mormon site has wife: Lydia??)
Edward 1848 born in Bath,ME.
Who are Ebenezer's and / Harriet's parents?
Any information on the Ship Tamerlane?

Being new to the list Id like to introduce myself and the research I am
conducting. My name is James (Jim) Clifford. The Clifford family line I am
researching is from Harrison County, Kentucky.
Thus far I have the line back to John (Jack) Clifford (b. 1817, d. 1872)
and Polly Boggs (b. unk, d. unk) who were married in 1840. This information
I received third hand from another, unknown researcher. I am in the process
of verifying this information.
In addition I am researching the Kelley line also from Harrison County,
Ky. The Clifford-Kelley line crosses frequently in Harrison County. I have
information on the Kelleys back to about the same time with my
g-grandfather being John W. Kelley from Harrison County..
Regards to the members of the list; I look forward to sharing information
and learning more about tracing our ancestors.
