If you are absolutely sure about yout Thomas Cliff's birthdate, I probably can't help you. But if he could have been born as late as 1847, maybe this coulf be him. This Thomas Cliff was born in Canada to Horatio Walkington Cliff b. 6 Jan, 1818 and Mary surname unknown. They were both born in England. Horatio's family were in the 1860 Census in Painesville, Lake Co. Ohio. The family moved to Michigan before the 1870 Census and Thomas was listed as age 21 years. In the 1880 Census, Horatio and wife, Mary were living alone. Horatio died July 29, 1888 in Pinconning, Bay Co., Michigan. The only child of theirs that I know anything about is their daughter, Maria, who married and stayed in Ohio. She is my great grandmother. Good luck with your search.

I believe that we are both researching the same people- Thomas and Martha Cliff. I believe that Martha is my great, great grandmother's younger sister. I found her in the census in Knox Co, IL, and later possibly in Seattle, Washington. I saw that you apparently had located them in the same areas. If you will contact me, I would love to compare and share information with you. Ann
