I am wondering if there are any family stories or rumours etc about the
Click's who were in Virginia during the Civil War. Has anyone done any
research or found any research about the Click's during this time?
Especially the Click's who were along the Virginia/West Virginia border.
Thanks!!
Robin Click Poeschek

History of Idaho Volume 3 pg 1097
Orie W Click was born June 1, 1871, at New Ross, Montgomery Co. Indiana, and
is a son of Jonathan M. and Lou (Cox) Click. HIs father was a prominent
lumberman of Horton, Missouri, to which town the family had removed when Orie W was
a child, and was also interested in Democratic politics. On completing his
studies in the schools of Nevada, Missouri , Orie W Click entered the Nevada
Business College at that place and was but eighteen years of age when he became
identified with the lumber business. Mr. Click continued to reside at Horton,
Missouri, until 1890, in which year he disposed of his interests there and came
to Nez Perce reservation in Idaho. He entered the lumber and milling
business, and established a flour mill where he is now located the town of Winchester.
He did a successful business in both lines until 1907, when he sold the mill
advantageously and continued in the lumber business until 1910.
In that year he was elected on the Democratic ticket to the office of sheriff
of Nez Perce county, and disposed of his lumber business in order that he
might devote his entire time and attention to the duties of his office. The
primaries of 1912 marked his defeat, but a petition of more than six hundred tax
payers named him as the choice for reelection on the People's ticket. This
demonstration of approbation was but the appreciation that is earned by faithful
devotion to duty and an earnest effort to maintain the best traditions of public
service. A courageous and conscientous official, his administration has been
marked by a devotion to duty that is as rare as it is commendable. He has been
fearless in the prosecution of what he has deemed wrong, pursuing his
activities without fear or favor, and it is this quality, perhaps, that has made the
people rely so absolutely on his judgment and ability. On retiring from his
office, January 13, 1913, he left a record which will serve as a high standard
for his successors to maintain.
Believing that Idaho is the future locality for some of the largest
commercial, industrial and agricultural activities of the country, he has invested in
Nez Perce County and Lewiston City realty, and has not hestitated in advising
others to do likewise. His fraternal affiliations are with the Knights of
Pythias, and the Hoo-Hoos. With his family he attends the Baptist Church, and at
this time is serving in the capacity of trustee. In October, 1892, Mr. Click was
married to Miss Betsy M. Seybold, a native of Missouri. They have four sons:
Wellington B, Marion C, Frank W. and Ralph.

Thank you to all who responded to my previous email!! So many Clicks!! Who
knew?!!
Through this list I received a wonderful family tree that traced my great
grandfather - Jonathan Miller Click back to the first John Click or Glick
who came to the US in the 1760's. Thank you Carolyn! I know when he was
born, where the first John Click was born, etc, etc. But jump ahead 100
years and the family history seems lost!!
My grandfather QR Click moved to northern Idaho in the late 1890's. He moved
there with his brother Ora and his brother-in-law Frank DeAtley. So armed
with this information - I am still unable to find death dates, spouses names
or grandchildren's names etc for the children of Jonathan Miller Click. I
know the children's names - Ora W. Click b.1 June 1891 in Boone Co. Indiana;
Quincy Robert my grandfather; and their sister - Icy L. Click b.19 Sept 1877
in Montgomery Co. Indiana. I don't even know when Jonathan Click's wife,
Lucinda died!
Do others have this type of block with the information? I am slowly trying
to retrieve information by sending for death certificates. I have searched
through all the web sites. Do you have to travel to the places where they
lived to find the information? I would appreciate any tips or advice!!
True to the nature of the John/Jonathan Click's my father Robert Jonathan
moved a lot. We ended up in British Columbia Canada. As we have reached the
other side of the continent from the Virginia starting point of the first
John Click my guess is that my son named Jonathan will have to start
traveling east!! :-)
Thank you again,
Robin
Jonathan Miller Click was the son of John Click IV and Sarah Miller, son of
John Click III an d Anna Harshbarger, son of Elder John Click, Jr and Elizabeth
Bauserman, son of John Click/Glick Sr and Barbara Stauffer

The list has been dead for 2 or 3 years but a lot of people trace back to
Baltus Click or Cleek. Below is an old genealogy that I cut and pasted. below
that is a VA Click reference. Grant

4.Mathias Click m. Margaret ?
3rd Generation:
Children of Michael Cleek and Margaret Barbara Lutz:

2. John M. Click b.1822 + Sarah E. ?
3. James Click b.1827 + Sophronia
4. Rufus Click b.1831
5. Marcellus Click b.1833 + Nancy Jane WEAVER
The siblings of George Washington Click b. 1818 were:
Nancy b. Jan. 12, 1816
Andrew Jackson b. June 25, 1818 (George's twin)
Catherine b. about 1820
Malachi b. 1822
Nathaniel b. 1826
Elizabeth b. about 1827
Elbert Severe b. March 1829
Eldridge S. b. 1832
James Lawson b. 1834
from an old email
It seems that Mathias and Michael moved to the Washington Co. (now Scott
Co., VA) area and according to a Mathias descendant, there
was a problem with the VA/TN line and Mathias was in VA., but Michael was in
Hawkins Co., Tn. (even though they lived adjoining each other).
I am new to this list and wonder which branch of the Click family people are
from? Is there anyone who is related to Jonathan Miller Click b. 22 Feb 1841
in Botetourt Co. Virginia?
