Hi -
I'm the grandaughter of Ruth Agnor HANNA, paternal side, and I am looking for
information on her family, and also hoping to find descendents of her uncles
or aunts in the Cleek family who can help me clear up a few mysteries. All
below are of Bath Co Virginia.
Here's the Cleek info I have from IGI. Please note my spelling of Ruth's
mother's name is different, Mary Jayne Cleek is the way Ruth spelled it, Jane
Cleek is what I see on IGI.
Mary Jayne CLEEK (1891-1933) is the child of John Henry Wise CLEEK
(1855-1924) and Nannie MAYSIE (1854-1928), her siblings are Micheal, Lillie
and William.
John is one of ten children of Adam Given CLEEK (1826-1901) and Mary Jane
Miller (1829-1896).
Adam is one of 11 children of John CLEEK (1803-1887) and Sarah
KIMES(1807-1885).
That's as far as I have on the Cleeks, and I have no biographical information
outside of Fred Hanna owning a store in Hinton, and one of Jayne's brothers
working for the Hinton railroad. There is a connection to the Gwins, I
understand, also.
Thanks -

Subject: Question-could you please help!!
We need help locating this lady Margaret "Peggy" Cleek (in some records spelled Click. She was born @ 1775 on the North Fork of the Holston River (Hawkins Co TN ?). Her Parents was Mikle Cleek
and Margaret Unknown. She also had a brother Mikle (Michael). She married William Seaver/Severs/Sivers between 1806-1808 not sure where but we believe Hawkins , Sullivan Co,TN or possibly Scott Co VA (parent counties ). They then move at some time to Wythe County VA. William had been married before and had 7 children.
Margaret "Peggy" Cleek and William Seaver had three daughters:
a.. Margaret "Betsy" Seaver b:02/13/1809 in TN Married James Cleek
in Scott County, VA 02/24/1833 died: November 20,1908 and is buried outside Weber City VA in Scott County. There are also several Cleeks's in the Scott County Area. James Cleek is the one who gave the information on the death record of Margaret Cleek Seaver.
a.. Nancy Seaver born 1813 in VA. Died after 1850. We do not know who she married or where she lived.
a.. Matilda Seaver born about 1815 in TN Married before 1833.She married Michael Cleek Jr. probably in Scott County VA.
Would you please post this on your list? Maybe someone can help us out with this family.
