This is another cliffhanger from Mae Twichells manuscript:
Greene Co. Tenn Court Minutes, 1783 - 1796, Page 124 DATED 1789
John Spurgeon - FRANCIS CLICK, 100 acres, was duly proven by the oath of
JAMES HILL and the same is ordered to be registered.
Could this be a son of Lewis Click who died Washington Co Tenn early 1800's
that we might be missing? There is an age gap between sons Peter and George
Lewis Click. If we speculate that Francis was at least 21 years of age at
this transaction that would make him born approximately 1768.
I have seen in some genealogies a Francis Click born before 1820 listed with
parents of George Lewis and Peggy Jaynes, but believe this might be incorrect
because of the timeframe.
I believe they had to be 21 years of age to sign any legal documents back in
those days and I find the birth estimate of before 1820 confusing. I have
never seen any other reference to a Francis Click of that age.

On the following marriage record in Greene Co. Tennessee, I can identify
Malichi and Martin Click. However, does anyone know who Matthew Click would
be?
CLICK, MALACHI TO ELIZABETH SHOLLY MAY 6, 1795
MARTIN AND MATHEW CLICK, SEC.
If Mathew had to be at least 21 years of age at the time he signed the
marriage security, the approximate year of birth would be 1774.
I have never seen in our Click genealogy this Matthew or is he listed on the
early Greene Co Tenn tax lists.
In checking some online records I find a Matthew M. Click residing in 1830
Henry Co. Tennesse. Then Sept 20, 1839 I find a land record for a Matthew
Click in Huntsville, ALABAMA Twp 185 Range 4W, Section 13 for 40.145 acres,
Tuscaloosa Land office.
1850 census I find Matthew M. Click Carrolsville Twp, Dist 31, Jefferson Co.
Alabama, Pg 170 (I haven't looked at that census record yet to see who
children were).
We know that Malachi Click's son, George Click, left Cocke Co. Tennessee in
abt 1832 and went through Alabama before he moved on into Texas.
Since our Click's to my knowledge were the only one's in Greene Co Tennessee,
I wonder if this Matthew is a son of our Lewis Click who died early 1800's in
Washington Co. Tennessee.
When Mae Twichell did her manuscript back in the 70's, I find what she listed
as a cliffhanger of a marriage for a Matthew Click to Rachel Millburn in
Greene Co. Tenn 9 Oct 1823. When I checked the IGI it showed the marriage to
a Matthew Cox. Rachel Milburn remarried a 2nd time to Martin High 24 Jan 1834
so assume that this Matthew had died. I do find a Matthew Cox age 20-30 yrs
old with 2 males under 5 yrs old and wife age 20-30 on the 1830 census index
in Greene Co. living very close to Malachi and Martin Click. Anyone know
anything about this family?
Does anyone know the parentage of the Matthew M. Click in Alabama? or Henry
Co. Tennessee?
Thanks
Carolyn Whitaker
