Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

What a great idea! I got this from another list too and wanted to pass along
to everyone. Go take a look. Once this gets off the ground it will be an
excellent searching tool.

>>Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that The Gravesite Project site is
FINALLY
open! The link is: http://www.piedmontsoftware.com/graves/ We are still
adding photos to the site as well as some other graphics so please ignore
the
bare pages after the introductory page. We will also be adding some minor
necessities over the next few days, but since the database is now ready to
use we wanted to let everyone have access to it. Please spread the word
about
the site so that more photos are contributed---and if you notice any errors
please bring that to our attention so that we can quickly get them
corrected.
I hope that you all enjoy it and thanks again for all of your help with the
photos! :o)

Just thought I would let other's know that I found ALL of my website
information entered into Ron Gray's Family Tree maker website verbatium from
MY WEBSITE. Other researchers in Cocke Co. may want to check that website for
their families:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/r/a/Ronald-A-Gray/index.html
This in violation of my copyright and wanted to warn others. I do not
appreciate these kinds of actions. I don't mind sharing my information, but
it is not to be copied for OR PUBLISHED ANYWHERE.

John Click (1760-18) is a new one for me. Every other Click is a
Mathais. Mathais 1729 could have had a son John. He had a son John Peter
(1765). I have Mathais with eight children. Hard to find proof on any of
them.
Do you have all the family of John & Jane?
Chester
Dear Click Family Members,
Most of the John Click of Alabama researchers that I have had contact with
have identified him as the son of Michael Click of Hawkins County, Tennessee.
I would like to provide this information with you that was shared with me by
another
Click descendant.
The source is "The John W. Walker Descendants -- Marshall County, Alabama,
1792-1982," by Frankie Ann (Walker) Roberts, pps. 81 & 82.
--------------
Matthias Click, was born in 1729 in Germany and died after 1814 in
America (son of Boldas). His wife was named Margaret, according to a land
deed found in Virginia.
Matthias and his wife, Margaret, had the following children that we know
of :
1. John 1760-1857, wife: Jane; Revolutionary War Soldier who came to
Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 1815.
2. Peter
3. Mathias, Jr.
4. Michael
John Click, was born in Virginia in 1760. He was a Revolutionary War
soldier, a gunner on the Liberty in 1777 Ticonderoga, Lake George, New York.
He had 400 acres of land in Lee County, Virginia, which he sold ca. 1797 and
moved to Williamson County, Tennessee. Then he moved on to Lincoln County,
Tennessee. By 1815 he was in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He owned a mill and
store on the Black Warrior River and was one of the first permanent white
settlers in Tuscaloosa.
His wife was named Jane. He died in Jefferson County, Alabama at the home of
his son, Moss Click.
- -------------------------------
Since there is evidence that Matthias B. Click was John Click's oldest
son, the
above information would support the old German naming pattern that the oldest
son is named for the father's father.
This research certainly puts a new twist on the ancestry of John Click
and
presents it in a different light.
Anyone have any comments ??
Joan Fowler Vitale
Judy,
Ok here's how ya do this. Be sure to do exactly like I tell you or it won't
work.
In email send to type: CLICK-L-REQUEST(a)ROOTSWEB.COM
TNCOCKE-L-REQUEST(a)ROOTSWEB.COM
Then in the body of the email type; SUBSCRIBE
DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE ANYWHERE, JUST THOSE TWO THINGS. Same thing with the
Cocke Co. TN mail list. And send. You will get a notice almost immediately
that you have been put on the list. Now when you want to post a message use
these addresses:
CLICK-L(a)ROOTSWEB.COM
TNCOCKE-L(a)ROOTSWEB.COM
What I would do is go back into your file of sent mail (that you have sent
me) and copy & past portions of that (so you don't have to retype) and send a
message at the same time to both lists. Send one to click list with a copy to
Cocke Co. I know for a fact there are Click's still residing in Cocke Co.
cause I just seen some while I was there. Also, do you know about the US Gen
Web project yet? Cocke Co Tn has a website that you can contact other people
researching your surnames. Here's their website address:
Cocke County,
Tennessee, Genealogy Just click here and will take you directly to
their website. Once you're there go to the Genealogy Info. There will be all
sorts of stuff for you to look at there. The Mantooth family has been well
researched there.
The other suggestion is to contact the newspaper, Plain Talk - Nancy O'Neil
(she's my cousin) and place an ad in the newspaper and who you are looking
for and why. Trust me you'll get response I'm sure. They love to get info on
any families from there.
TALK TO YOUR GRANDMOTHER - Pick her brain about ANYTHING she'll tell ya. Ask
her if she knew a man by the name of Samuel Whitaker and his wife Daisy
Balch? See if she knows what happened to her, where she died and how. That'll
get her going. Take a tape recorder and just let her talk. Hope she's in good
health. You never know what she might tell ya.
Well try these things and I think you'll be getting some info back real soon.
Tell them you're new to the list and need some help. They're very willing.
Talk later.
Carolyn
