Kansas Magazine features The Glick Mansion in its Winter 1998 edition, p 21.
"The mansion, named for George Washington Glick, the ninth governor of
Kansas," is in Atchison, KS, not far from Kansas City or Lawrence. Contact
info is given in the article. But I'm a Kansan and I didn't know Kansas had
ever had a Governor Glick!

Hi,
I will share the information that I have on the Mathias Cleeks. However,
please realize that these are not from my lines and I have collected these
from a variety of sources.
If we assume that there were 4 brothers, then 3 of the brothers named at
least one son Mathias. Only Palser did not have a son named Mathias (to the
best of my knowledge).
So first let's begin with Jacob Click (And pardon me because all of my
ancestors spelled it Cleek, so you may find that I use it interchangeably).
1.Old Jacob had the following:
Mathias Click b.abt 1782 VA d15Aug1855 Bath Co., VA.
married: Elizabeth Stitlington Crawford b.1787 d.1852
2. Old Michael had the following:
Mathias Cleek b.abt 1790 Hawkins Co., TN. d. ?
married: Jane Jennie Haskins b.abt 1790
Addtionally it is believed that old Michael had a son named John Cleek who
married: Jane ? and they had the following:
Mathias B. Cleek b. bet 1780-1800
married: Nancy Moss in 1817 in Wilson Co., Tn.
(Mathias B. and Nancy were the parents of Rufus Click and Marcellus Click
and are probably the ones who went to TX.)
3. Old Mathias is as follows:
Mathias Click b.abt 1729 Germany d.abt 1816 Scott Co., VA.
married: Margaret Widener (Widener name is from Joan)
Old Mathias also named one of his sons:
Mathias Cleek, Jr. b.Aug 1771 d.13Sep1856 Scott Co., VA.
married: Margaret Cleek (a daughter of Palser Cleek).
Mathias Cleek, Jr and Margaret had a son named:
John Cleek who married Elizabeth ?
John and Elizabeth Cleek had a son named Mathias b.1843 Scott Co., VA.
Old Mathias also had a son named:
John Peter Click b.abt 1750 d.aft 1828 in either AR or TX.
married: Catherine Widener and they had a son named:
Mathias Click b.16Aug1786 VA d.15may1861 Lamar Co., TX.
married: Lucinda Cox b.1790 Hawkins Co., Tn. d.1875 Lamar Co., Tx.
I believe that is all.

I have been monitoring this sight for quite some time but today received
a family tree from my aunt in Paris, Lamar county, Texas and wanted to
post my info and see if it ( I know it does)is familiar or of use to
anyone. My maternal grandmother (still living in Caviness(Paris),Texas
is Mabel Christina Cleere. Her parents were Malcolm Walker Cleere and
Lou Tennie Click b.4-13-1882 in Lamar. Tennie's parents were Mary
cunningham and James Click, 1857. James' parents were Martha
Eubanks,1835, Tenn and Henry Click, 1826, ARK. Henry's parents were
Lucinda Cox, Tenn and Mathias Click, Tenn. Mathias' parents were
Catherine Widener and Peter Click and Peter's father was Mathias Click
and his father was Baltus Click who came from Germany in 1732. Can
anyone help me fill in the details of dates etc. or does anyone have any
interesting stories on any of these CLicks?

Regarding the Clicks, Indians and Wars:
I can find no evidence that one of the original brothers was killed by an
Indian. But I am willing to listen to anyone who has evidence that one was
killed.
However, at least Jacob did fight in the French and Indian War, which
predated the Rev. War. It could very well be that they all fought in the
French and Indian War. Jacob died in 1813 and his will was probated in the
Jul 1813 Bath Co., VA. court.

County, TN before 1860.>>>
The come from Frederick Weaver, b. 1759/60 VA and Lewis Click ( Johann
Gluck>>was spelled Lewis Click by 1780).
David Adam WEAVER was born Oct. 7, 1809, in Tennessee. He married. Emily
(Emely?) Ann VICKERS in Troup Co., GA Jan. 15, 1837. D. A. WEAVER was in
Troup Co., GA because of service in the Creek Indian War.
The couple were in Sevier Co., ARK. ca 1860 and that is where the first
documented contact I know of occured between the WEAVER's and CLICK's. That
was a marriage between Marcellus C. CLICK and Nancy Jane Weaver ca 1860 in
Savier Co..Ark.
Also at the BLM/GLO web site for Ark. the record for Nancy Jane Weaver's
brother, John, also contained the name of Marcellus CLICK in the area marked
NOTES. I don't know the reason for that name being there.. I've never seen
another record on that site with a name in the NOTES box. However, the
brother, John "Bud" Vickers Weaver, died in a POW camp in Chicago, IL. after
capture by Union Army. Maybe M. C. CLICK inherited it from his brother-in-
law.
For the purpose of answering you question, John V. WEAVERs place of birth and
not his death is of interest. He was born March 16, 1838 in Tenn. If we look
at that time-line it shows David and Emily in GA 1837, Tenn 1838. However,
another of their children was born in AL ca 1844. I believe they checked in
for the 1850 census in Coosa Co., AL. Another child was born in AL ca 1851
but the next was born in Bossier Parish, LA in 1854.
We think Marcellus C. Click was born in Dec. 1832 in Ala.. He shows up in
1850 US Census, Lafayette County, Arkansas, Moss Township, p. 173:
Matthias B. Click 59 M Farmer Va
Nancy " 55 F Tenn
John M. " 27 M Farmer Ala
James " 23 M " Ala
Rufus " 19 M " Ala
Marcellus " 17 M " Tenn
If this census is accurate re: the children's birthplaces, then Matthias B.
Click would have left Tuscaloosa County, Alabama ca. 1831 and moved somewhere
in Tennessee. He would have left Tennessee for Arkansas after ca.1833.
Matthias B. Click's wife, Nancy Moss Click was from Wilson County, Tennessee.
In Deed Book K, 1793 - 1829., Division of the lands of Thomas Moss deceased.
Heirs: Nancy Click, Minerva Britton, Silas Chapman, James Moss, Elizabeth
Moss, Zelpha Moss' heirs, Sally Johnson, Thomas Moss, and Lucy's heirs.
December 1824 (pp. 419-420)
As Matthias B. Click and Nancy Moss were also married in Wilson County,
Tennessee, it appears that the Moss family roots are in that area. This would
be the Middle Tennessee area around the present Lebanon, Tennessee near the
Cumberland River, about 30 miles east of Nashville.
Then there is Wilson WEAVER. He may be D. A. WEAVER's uncle but he is just
barely old enough to be his father. Wilson WEAVER married Mary Jane MUNN,
11 Feb. 1813 in eastern TN or NC. Wilson
WEAVER enlisted 9-1-1814, discharged 2-1-1815 at Elizabeth, Carter Co., TN.
He served as a Private in Jessie Cole's Company, Tennessee Militia,.
1820 CENSUS Lawrence Co., TN
1830 CENSUS CarrolL Co., TN
1840 CENSUS DeSoto Co., MS
1850 CENSUS Hempstead Co., AR
Mary Jane MUNN died ca 1866-67 Nevada Co., AR Wilson WEAVER died 02-Aug.
1881 Nevada Co., AR. By that time the WEAVER - CLICK relationship was well
established and they were making a name in TEXAS.
I guess I didn't answer your question very well. However, if this provides
you with any clue please let me know.

THOMAS CLICK KILLED
In the fall of 1866 Thomas Click was killed by Indians near what is known as
Ranger Crossing on the Medina River, three miles from Bandera. He had started
from Bandera one night to visit a man named Huffman, who lived six miles west
of town and was preparing to move away. At the forks of the road the Indians
came upon him; he was unarmed and could put up no defense, so was easily
killed by lance thrusts. He fell by the roadside and the Indians stripped him
and dragged him into the high grass a short distance away. The next day his
brother, M. C. Click, and D. A. Weaver came along and noticed a pool of blood
by the road, and upon investigation they found a small butcher knife which
they recognized as belonging to Tom Click. After further search the body was
found. Officers in town were notified and an inquest was held, after which
Click's body was brought to Bandera and buried. A hastily organized party
took the trail of the Indians, but they were not overtaken. Click was riding
a mule at the time, which the Indians secured and carried away with them.

I'm hoping somebody will claim my Glick/Klick sisters:
M. Catherine Glick apparently born c.175-, married Andrew Hoerner Sr. c177-,
died 8/25/1780. "from near Lebanon PA". She is thought to be mother of Henry
and Melchior Hoerner. Henry was confirmed 29 May 1790. Melchior was born
2/16/1774. She apparently was first wife.
M. Barbara Glick born 3/10/1759, died 3/18/1829, m. Andnrew Hoerner Sr.
8/25/1780. PA Hanover Twp, Dauphin County place of death. Probably buried
Lutheran Burying Ground, Hummelstown, Dauphin County PA (graves may have been
moved). Second wife is thought to be mother of Barbara Hoerner Berst, John
Hoerner, George Philip Hoerner, John Jacob Hoerner, Andrew Hoerner Jr., Anna
Hoerner Ebersole, Michael Hoerner, and William Hoerner.
What the family record says in "The Hoerner Family History," is that Andrew
Hoerner Sr. "married first a Miss Klick/Glick from near Lebanon Pa. After her
death he married her sister, Miss Klick/Glick."
Conjecture is that the first wife died in childbirth (Henry's birth?), and
Andrew ( now a widower with two young children)immediately married her sister.
Andrew served in the Revolutionary War as a private.
I have not researched this Klick line much, and the Hoerners seem to be a dead
end in themselves. I haven't been able to tie them in in any way with the
Clicks who married into my husband's line. And nobody seems to fit in with
my father's Glock/Glck ancestry (Elder John Glock, COB minister, was his
ggrandmother's brother).
Anybody want to claim any of these folks?
Sorry Joan,
These are my Klicks:
Jacob Klick (oldest child of Peter and Louisa Klick)
He was born in Bavaria, Germany, Dec. 30, 1809 and came to this country
in 1832, settling in Butler County, Ohio.
He married Louisa Fisher in 1832, and they had: Louisa, James, Amelia,
Catherine, and Mary.
His biography says that his second wife was Martha Fetherly, although
the marriage record shows Magdalena Federle. They had no children.
His third wife was Margaret Hinkle. Their children were: Ella, Jacob,
Laura, William, George, and Ida.
If this looks familiar to anyone, please let me know. Judy
Judy,
Hope you can help me with these KLICKs. John Henry Klick b. unknown m. Leah
Nace b. unknown. Child or Children: Lillian Permilla Klick b. Dec.3, 1868,
birth place probably Lebanon CO. PA. Lillian m 1st John KOEHLER. I know
nothing about him. Married 2nd. Wellington P. Batdorf. Lillian died June 2,
1942, buried Zoar Lutheran church, Mt. Etna, PA. Lillian possibly had a
brother named Wallace Klick. Does any one have a line on these KLICKs?
Thanks
Joan Achey
That's okay Bill, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm even on the right list!
I have yet to see anyone mention the Klicks (with a K). If you're out
there, Klicks, where are you all hiding? Judy

Hi
Not actively researching my Clicks right now, but picked up a bit of info
which might be helpful to someone trying to pinpoint someone's location for a
time period. Taken from "Annals of Southwest Virginia 1769-1800" by Lewis
Preston Summers.
1) Two entries for a Jacob Click who served on jury duty: April 12th 1774 and
May 11th 1774.
2) Brief of Deeds - Botetourt Co, VA
Deed Book 1

Matthias Cleek & Margaret, his wife - Grantor
John Little - Grantee
# of Acres - 50
Description - No. br. James
Gloria
This Matthias was born in Tennessee (source: 1850 Lamar Co., TX census)
His wife was Lucinda "Lucy" B. Cox. Their children were: Andrew Jackson
Click b 1809, Louisa Click b 1813, Calvin M. Click b 1814, Terrell Lemuel
Click b 1824, Henry M. Click b 1826, Eldridge Emberson Click b 1830, John
Daniel Click b 1833, William Carrol Click b Unk, Rufus K. Click b Unk .
After leaving Tennessee, they lived in Arkansas for several years before
moving to Lamar Co., TX. Also, I believe that there was another Andrew
Jackson Click that lived in a different county in Texas.

Dear Click/Hatfield,
Your querie made me want to gush good news. Where does this Nathan Hatfield
come from? We own our family's "Click Bible" (1st date 1815!) which lists a
maryann Click and Polly Martin(child/mother). I will have to investigate.
Then we show a William Hatfield living next door in the 1830 census of
Mulberry Gap, Claiborne Co, TN. Polly was short for Mary back then. Polly
Click and and combination of these names is the biggest mystery in my family

HI CLICK reserchers.
I'm looking for information on Marcellus C. CLICK who may have been born in
Alabama. Here are some facts that just came to my attention RE CLICK in
Texas.
Marcellus CLICK had a first cousin named Emma Senninda CLICK b. Erath Texas.
She married Marcellus' brother-in-law, Mathew (Mack) Zachariah WEAVER in
Bandara Co. Marcellus' wife was Nancy Jane WEAVER, daughter of David Adam
WEAVER., and Mack was her brother.
Here is the interesting part. Mack and Emma married in Bandara Co. on Dec.
1876 but their first child, also named Nancy Jane, was born in Paris, Lamar
Co, Texas in 1880. This would indicate a continuing relationship and travel
between the CLICK's in Bandara and Lamar Co.
I don't think that should surprise us considering the similarity of names.
However, this birth is the first evidence I know of where a CLICK can be shown
to have lived in both places.
Here is the bio on Mack. Mathew "Mack" Zephariah WEAVER. b. Aug. 16, 1854
Bossier Parish, La. He and Emma had 3 daughters that settled in Klamath Co.,
OR
Marcellus CLICK and Nancy Jane WEAVER had a daughter, May Click m. Edwin "Don"
M. Stipp b. ca 1862. They married Dec. 20, 1887 Bandara Co., TX . Later they
lived in Texarkana, Ark., too. Don Stipp was a Dentist. Children were Bladen
M. Stipp b. ca. Aug., 1889 Bandara Co., TX and Edwin A. or Dan b. ca. July
1891 Bandara Co., TX
The same CLICK's seen in Lamar and Bandera Co., TX were in Lafayette Co., Ark
ca 1855-1860 according to land patents issued to them.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Emma CLICK's father was Andrew Jackson
CLICK. Her mother had the name Mariann Matilda GOODJOIN. Since Marcellus and
Emma were first cousins, her father Andrew Jackson Click must have been a
brother to Marcellus' father, Mathias CLICK.
Here are those Arkansas land patents again.

The following CLICK s were married in Lamar Co. TX. It seems they are all
descended from the CLICK's that were in Ark. but sometimes families
"hopscotch" across the landscape. Some of them might have moved directly to
Texas from Tenn. and Alabama.

The marriage that interest me most is James S. CLICK and S. E. BREWER, 1883.

Marsellus CLICK's daughter, Martha E. CLICK married Erasmus Andrew BREWER, b.
Beaumont, TX 1854. They marrried in Bandera Co., August 29, 1881. So there
are two CLICK'S married to two BREWER's between 1881 -- 1883. Were the
BREWER's related to each other? Do you Lamar Co. CLICKs have anything on the
BREWER line?
