Hi Terry! It is so good to find some of them Cliburn's!! My mother (Lena Estha Cliburn Brown) was one of 4 daughter's of John Marshall and Ella Gertrude Strickland Cliburn; there were also 7 boys. I am aware of the village, Cliburn or Claborn (I have found it spelled both ways.) I would LOVE to visit England and see the village. My daughter-in-law's step father is from England and he grew up not far from there. Van (Harvey LaVan Cliburn Jr.) was the son of my Uncle LaVan and Aunt Rilda Bee Cliburn. I think Uncle LaVan was the second born of my Grandmother Cliburn. I've met Van and seen he perform once when I was 11. He came to Waco, Texas (where I was born and raised.) I remember he was awesome on that piano. !:-) Thank you so much for the information on your branch of the Cliburn's. My email is MollyTx(a)gmail.com

To Molly Brown
We too are originally from England, my Father was also a distant relative of Van Cliburn! My fathers family lived in and around Copiah county(Hazelhurst,MS). Back to England; There are remnants of a small ancient village called Cliburn with the remnants of its church still standing(barely). Some surnames we're tied together with all the way back to England are of course Cliburn's, Harrison's, Hamilton's, Terry's. After England, seems the Cliburns immigrated to the Carolina's before heading to Mississippi then onto Texas & California. My grandfather Moseby Cliburn lost his life helping build the original Olympic coliseum in Southern Cal. Hope this some how helps with your part of the puzzle. My first name(Terry) and last(Cliburn) are actually both family surnames!
Some of my family from MS Cliburns:Terry, Cleo, Warren, Ojel, Irene, Inell, Moseby, Maryetta, Ellen, Ernistine
Respectfully
Good Luck with your journey!!!
Terry Cliburn
