I am attempting to make my connection to Van Cliburn (as I am told we are related). My Cliburns are from MS and LA. I need to try to fill in some holes. If you have info on this line of Cliburns please let me know.
Thanks,

William A. Cliburn born in 1853 was a junior. His father was William A.
Cliburn, Sr. born 1828 in Marion County, Mississippi. He was married to Jemima
Jane Shivers born Nov 25, 1834. They were married in 1850 in Copiah County,
Mississippi. They had 7 children in all. One of interest is the oldest daughter
Pherba Jane born in 1851. She married Louis Moses Ashley who may have been a
brother to Sarah Rebecca Ashley. I do not have his parents. William A. Cliburn,
Sr. was in the civil war and died in 1863 in a battle in Vicksburg,
Mississippi. William A. Cliburn, Sr. was the son of James B. Cliburn, Sr. and Abigail
Pittman. He was one of 12 children. Hope this helps. I do have more.,
Elizabeth Ashmore

Hi Ann,
I don't think I have any information that will help you. I've looked through my Cliburn records and find the only person in my line with a similar birthdate to your William is my great grandfather, James Alexander Cliburn. He was born in 1854 in Lawrence County, MS. He married Estelle Elizabeth (Mollie) Dear (b. 1861).
James could be a sibling of your William--or a cousin. I've not been able to find a conclusive list of James' siblings so this is only a guess. But IF he was a sibling of your William, their parents would have been Alexander S Cliburn (b. abt 1820) and Sarah Catherine Stewart (b. abt. 1830).
Alexander's parents were James Cliburn and Appy Pittman. If you check these lines, you might find your ancestor in there.
Good luck. Let me know if I can be of any further help (not that I've probably done much here!).

My G grandfather was William A. Cliburn, I have an old obit clipping my father kept in his wallet of his fathers death. My dads name was Edwin Herbert Cliburn, my grandfather was Fred Ellis Cliburn. I found the Cliburn Cemetary in Lawrence Co. MS and found the name of James Cliburn and Appey Pittman, which in turn led me to you. I was so happy to find Williams tree. It seems Sarah Rebecca Ashley has a lot of info on her but none on William. I would appreciate any info you have. Thanks
