My Cliburn's were from Moniteau/Cole Counties in Missouri or up Northwest of Jefferson City, Mo.
That there are two different Cliburn families in Missouir is odd, considering the spelling and size of the family name. Perhaps there is some relationship? Let's keep in touch.
I have done considerable research on the name in Missouri prior to 1900 so perhaps I could be of some help to you. Let me know.

Hi Paul,
My mother was a Cliburn. I've traced our line to Alexander S. Cliburn, b. abt. 1820 in Robeson Co., NC. He was married to Sarah Catherine Stewart. I'm told our ancestors are William A. and Appie Pittman but I haven't been able to make the connection myself. I also understand that we're connected to Cliburns in England. Could you please send me the information you have? I would love to have it so I can begin to make some connections in my line.
Please email me directly at kaystange(a)attbi.com. If I can help you in your research in any way, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks very much,
Kay (Newton/Cliburn) Stange

Hi Coy Mae,
Did you ever find out about the Cliburn family reunion? Does it take place yearly? I'm still trying to find out more about the Cliburns. I can't quite get beyond Alexander S. Cliburn and Sarah Catherine Stewart. Is James___ Alexander's father? Where do William A (what does the A stand for?) Cliburn and Appie Pittman come in? Are they Aleander's grandparents? You also said in an earlier message that you had information on a Cliburn church in England. Is this somehow linked to our Cliburn lineage?
Sorry for all the questions but I would appreciate getting any info you have. In return, if you need me to search on an area, or link, I'd be happy to do that. Wish I had something else to offer. Anyway, let me know how I can return the favor, okay?
Thanks, Coy Mae (Cuz!)
Kay

Hi Bill,
I'm trying to "connect the dots" with my Cliburn ancestors. I know my gggrandfather was James Alexander Cliburn (b. 14 July 1854 in Lawrence, MS) married to Estelle Elizabeth (Mollie) Dear.
His father was Alexander S. Cliburn (b. 1820/21? in Robeson Co. NC) married to Sarah Catherine Stewart.
Alexander S's father was....James....? It's here that things get muddy. Do you have this information and any about this Cliburn's ancestry? I would very much appreciate getting the info you have. Do you have a scanner that you could copy and email these things to me? Or would you rather use snail mail? If so, I'd be happy to contribute to the copying and mailing costs.
Please email directly at kaystange(a)attbi.com with any information or tips that you have. I very much appreciate it.
