I have yet to find any information about my Cliburn line. I have come
across some names but not any documentation to support it. Hopefully
someone might be able to help me out.
I'm descended from John Cliborn, Jr b. 1735 in Henrico County, Virginia
and Elizabeth Robertson.
Their children:
George R. Claiborne b. Abt. 1770 d. Bet. 1840 - 1849 in
Kentucky/Tennessee married Emily Meador b. Abt. 1774 d. Abt. 1855
John Claiborne, Jr. b. 1760
Elizabeth Claiborne
Phobe Claiborne
I have John Jr. being a 4th generation John with his gg-grandfather as
Edward (Edmund) Cleiborne b. Abt. 1615 in England. Again, I have found
no documentation to support it and do not know of the validity of this
information.
If anyone knows anything about this Cliburn/Cliborn/Claiborne/Clayborn
line, please let me know.
Thanks,
Chris Cliburn

Hello Sandy,
Thanks for your response to my general CLIBBORN query posted in February 2001
on the Ancestry.com message board.
A group of us CLIBBORN researchers have an E-mail list and an MSN Community
web site for sharing data, photographs, information and questions on our
shared ancestors.
Most of us are descended from James Clibborn of Moate [1818-1893], County
Westmeath, Ireland, but the CLIBBORN family goes back to the Parish of
Cliburn in Westmoreland and the time of the Norman invasion.
There are strong links with the Booth family of the Salvation Army and there
are many Booth Clibborns.
My grandmother was Ann Murray CLIBBORN, a daughter of James CLIBBORN of
Moate, she married the Rev. George DYER, a Wesleyan minister in 1891 [His
first wife died with no children] My father was their only child, Fritz
Clibborn DYER,
born 1895, died 1950.
If you are interested, please let us have a little information about
yourself and your CLIBBORN links and we will be happy to welcome you to the
CLIBBORN community.
Best wishes, Ron Clibborn-Dyer in Hong Kong, China

Some of my Clibborn's came from the same place and also from Tipperary
Ireland.
Can you tell me who in particular you are interested in?

Hello all,
Would be interested to hear from any of our Clibborn cousins,
I am researching the Irish descendents of Cliburn who spell
their name Clibborn.
My more recent Clibborn ancestors came from Moate in County
Westmeath, Ireland.
I am in touch with five or six from this Quaker line and one
Clayburn.
Best wishes, Ron in Hong Kong, China
