Dear Juvanne,
Thank you so much for taking a look. Edgar Caldwell
is a mystery...trying to track African Americans is
not the easiest task.
Carl Clazey in Maryland sent the following: GEorge A.
Clazey 1895; Harry C. Clazey, 1880; Florence Clazey,
1871, Harry S. Clazey, 1901; William F. Clazey, 1898
(He was killed in WW I), Carl Clazey, 1931. There
were no relationships drawn by him so...the GEorge A.
in the beginning of this list is probably related to
GEorge William Clazey ultimatelly from the line that
arrived in Maryland in the early 1800s.
I am still at a brick wall with the Clazeys in
England...I think when the census is finally released
for 1890 there may be more answers. It will probably
take going there at some point to track down the bulk
of them.
Sharon

Juvanne,
Found a reference to: Nathaniel Clayse, son of John
and Abigail Clayse in MA. Judging by script, the "s"
is very old style. Found it in genealogy.com.
Off subject...I am nearly finished with book on the
legal lynching of Edgar C. Caldwell in Anniston,
Alabama 1920. He was an African American soldier. I do
not have access to ancestry.com databases and I found
a reference to 1910 Ohio Census with an Edgar
Caldwell. He enlisted in US Army the first time at
Columbus Barracks, Ohio in 1912. Would you be ablre
to have a look?
Maryland Clazeys supplied some names: Harry C.
Clazey, 1880; Florence Clazey, 1871; George A. Clazey,
1895; Harry S. Clazey, 1901; William F. Clazey, 1898
(died WW I) and Carl himself, 1931. Do not know how
these all fit but it would appear that Carl is from
the line, George Clazy in mid 1800s, Scots Along the
Potomac.
