Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Thank you very much Martha, and, all my Lists, note this or regret it in
a month!!!
The Archives site (see full discussion at the bottom) to which you
directed us was a Gold Mine, see extract of note from my post, below, just
to give you an idea of the impact for just the first search I undertook.
What a jewel (you and the website!). Nevertheless, you'll cause me loss of
sleep:

"This appers to be the most incredible collection of BANGS papers ever
accumulated. Many of you know I've championed the cause of reviewing the
Bangs Yale University collection of Bangs papers, etc, but this seems even
more comprehensive. Do we have any Bangs w/knowledge of these archives?
http://archivegrid.org/web/jsp/s.jsp?q=Bangs&selectsort=r&selectsort=r
Hope some of you can comment on these records!
BTW, the papers listed here are just the 1st 20 Archives of 304 (Three
Hundred) of the collections - 284 MORE sub-sets of Bangs documents
apparently thought to be important enough to have been selected for
collection, and apparently also at least some archival activities.
Frankly, I'm jealous - wish my ancestors had and donated such an
incredible collection. Hope you in the family can provide the rest of us a
sense of what exists, especially since the Bangs were prominent and diverse,
including Jonathan Bangs who early (1738) accompanied the Carruthers family
to New Bern NC for shipping activities."
