Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi All Lists,
There is a new website that has a nice idea - it takes Gen info from many
different web sites and then combines/ recombines the data into a nice
structered 11 column line chart, allowing 20 families to be combined on a
single screen/ page for a quick assessment of whether/which of the 20
families is one you wish to examine, see unstructered page below. While I'm
showing the Werth surname here below (my 4G Gm Catharine Werth 1725-1780 md
1752 Paul Berlet 1714-1796), any surname is equally avail by simply going to
the website (http://www.geneanet.org/) and entering to search what ever
surname you wish - see Werth ex below. The email address for each family is
also included w/each Surname (1st Col) for your follow up.
There is one feature of mixed blessing - there appears to be a non-US
preference or bias of the database. That is good because there is less
duplication w/, for example, RootsWeb databases, but also suggesting this
database may not yet be fully activated - still, w/559 'Hits' for Werth, the
potential is there. There is some duplication also.

Hi All Lists,
If you have been duped by the GenSeekers.com, GenealogyGiants & other such scams, or if you are so concerned, then glance at this article.

SPECIAL EDITION: Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter
I have written a number of times about a genealogy-related scam that operates under a variety of names, including GenSeekers.com, GenealogyGiants.com and more. In the July 7 edition of the newsletter, I
identified the owner/operator of this "business" as 21-year-old Elias Abodeely of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Since then, I have had conversations with several people in Iowa about this "business."
I can now report that earlier today the Cedar Rapids police department arrested Elias Abodeely for his activities with GenSeekers.com and the other Web sites he operates.
KWWL television in Iowa is now reporting that Cedar Rapids Police have
made an arrest after a two year Internet crime investigation. The crimes
involved genealogy websites. Today police arrested Elias Abodeely II of
Cedar Rapids.. He faces four charges: 1st degree theft, identity theft,
money laundering, and ongoing criminal conduct. Police say they expect to
file charges against more suspects.
Details are still developing. Keep an eye on the newsletter Discussion
Board at http://www.eogn.com for updates. I will also be writing about
this in the next newsletter.
