I am from Blount County, AL. My father is Charles Clevenger, my grandfather was John Clevenger, my great-grandfather was Sam Clevenger, my great-great-grandfather was Archibald Clevenger. My family moved from Sevierville, TN in the late 1800's. Sam settled on Whitney Mountain in northeast Blount County. John lived in north Jefferson County and southern Blount most of his life.

I had a grate uncle John that I remember him visiting when I was just a little girl bout 40 years ago. I bet it is the same family. If you recall any other info I would love to hear it. Both my parents have passed on and I have no one to get the family history from.
Thanks,
Paula

Keith,
My name is Diana Clevenger and I have been doing research on my husband's
family who are from Webster County WV for a few years. I have found that
the Clevenger name can be spelled several ways. I even located one family
in the Federal Census under Cleavenger. But most go back and forth
between
Clevenger/Clevinger. I also have the book 'Clevenger, Pioneers &
Descendants' by George R. Griffiths. It was reprinted by Sarah Clevenger,
PH.D. She has a website that is very helpful unfortunately I've lost the
address due to computer problems. Maybe someone else on the list can give
it to us.
However, I could not find a French Stout Clevenger in the book's index. I
do
have a subscription to ancestry.com and can do some lookups for you. If
you
have any other names from that family it would be helpful like the
grandfather's name? Good luck and let me know if I can look up anything
for
you.
