Please contact me at jandevie(a)sbcglobal.net. I am grandaughter of Mary Ellen. There is a Clevenger website.
Who is your ancestor?
We have not been able to make much an inroad when it comes to the family of Mary Jane. Cecelia has been able to prove that she is the daughter of Christopher Cox and Polly. The family lived in Sabastian County, AR in 1850. She had two brothers, Albert and Henry. We have always been told that she was part Cherokee. I would be interested in what was passed down in your family.

My wife is a great great granddaughter of Wm and Mary Jane. We have read somewhere that Mary Jane and her brothers were possibly Cherokee and were orphaned when she was around 8 yo. We would be VERY interested to know any info anyone has on her and her line.

Being the oldest at 25 when M.A.R. Clevenger was born makes William a good candidate but Enos at 21 is also a possibility. Be nice to find out for sure. But it still leaves me dangling on Robert Huston Williams, he seems to have come our of nowhere. Thanks for the help.
Paul

Rebecca Danks was married to Asa Clevinger on 8 Oct. 1809 in Winchester, Frederick Co., VA. They removed to Logan Co., KY, c. 1810. Of their male sons the most likely as father of Mary A. Clevenger b. 1837, would be William Clevinger, b. 15 Sept. 1812, mar. 15 Dec. 1835 in Logan Co., KY, to Jane Purdy.
