Hi Mary,
(also my sister's name)
I don't think we are talking about the same people. I do believe Job/John (being the same person, yet having a brother named John and one Jonathan) is the son of Thomas Clevenger of Warren Co., Ohio that moved to Delaware Co., IN. I do feel like they are somehow related because of the name repetitions in the families. Samuel, Thomas and Zechariah seem to appear in Warren Co., Ohio around the same time frame. They do seem to originate from the Burlington Co., New Jersey area before migration. I am not familiar with the OK, ARK, and TX or the southern MO Clevenger's. They were quite prolific and seem to be simple people that did not leave a lot of history behind, at least my group seem that way.
P.S. I don't have a web site, sorry.
Thanks for your help
Margaret in ARK
Hello Margaret.
I have located a Job, John and Benjamine Clevenger, sons of George and Deliverance Horner Clevenger. George and Deliverance were from Burlington Co., New Jersey. However, there are a number of children who were born in Fredrick Co., Virginia. In fact, the dad, George, born in 1714 died in 1809 in Frederick, Virginia, as did Deliverance in 1756. I pulled this information up onOneWorldTree. I'm more familiar with the Clevenger families of Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas,Virginia and TExas.
My gggrandfather, William Joseph Jasper Clevenger was born in Forsyth, Taney, Missouri, my great-grandfather, James MacDonald Clevenger, was born in Crawford County, Arkansas and my grandmother, Mary Ella Clevenger, was born in Oklahoma, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Does any of this ring a bell? I found most of the family trees on Ancestry, Clevenger web sites on RootsWeb and information I found on the Ancestry World Tree Project which I could connect to the information from a great-aunt.
If you still think your family came from this branch, email me directly from your private web site to mine.
Best wishes,
Mary

Maybe I can clear up why so many don't know of this "private" Clevenger site. At the url below, you pay an amount of money, and you name your site. My cousin did this and she put in all the info she had on our Clevengers. Then, she invited others of our line to become members and we did, and we put in our information. There is a yearly fee and we (my turn is next) pay it. We've only ever invited people that we knew were in "our line". Our particular clan seems to have come from Tennessee, Missouri to Arkansas and then Texas/Oklahoma.
We are showing Reuben Clevenger/ Sarah Mayberry (Mabry) as ancestors and while it goes back further than that, I don't believe we have proof.
Reuben's son, George and wife, Nancy's, son, William Joseph Jasper Clevenger is the head of "our" family.
http://www.myfamily.com/
I would suggest a more perfect place for all our myriad family lines, this site:
http://members.iquest.net/~sclevenger/lines.htm
This site was set up by Sarah Clevenger (you can google her, she's written books on the Clevengers and updated books on the Clevengers. I don't mean just her line. I mean ALL Clevengers). At her site, you can add yourself and your line (if she doesn't have it).
It would be the perfect place for ALL of us to gather and further our genealogy.
Thanks for reading.

DEATH OF BASIL CLEVINGER
We are pained to record the death of Basil Clevinger of Tippecanoe township.
He has been complaining all winter. About a week ago he left the old
homestead and went to his son David's near at hand and died at two o'clock
this morning. He was ninety-one years of age.
He came to the Wabash from Ohio in 1830. He entered the land where he lived.
He was universally esteemed as a good citizen.
The funeral will take place from the Liberty Chapel on the Clevinger farm at
11 a.m. tomorrow, Rev. J.H. Hull officiating.
It is a remarkable fact that no less than seven persons have been buried
from David Clevinger's house within a single year. Five children, a
grandson, and now the venerable patriarch and pioneer follows that bourne
from which no traveler returns.

Well, seems like a lot of us did not know that a private Clevenger site
existed. Just read this posting and I am also a descendant of the
Clevenger line
of George and Deliverance Clevenger. My GGGGG grandfather was Aden (some
sa
y Eben) Clevenger from Fredricks County VA. His son Bazzel would be my
GGGG
and his son, Lorenzo Dow (GGG), his son James Bruce (GG grandfather) to his
daughter, Hazel Vivian (grandmother). We are looking for the where Lorenzo
Dow is buried. We've been to Bazzel's grave in Tippecanoe Co., Indiana,
where
most of the family is buried. We know Lorenzo lived his life born in Ross
Co., OH, then to Indiana and lived in Carroll, White, and Tippecanoe
Counties.
We just cannot find his obituary or where he may be buried. Would this
private site help us with this information? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you so much,

Hello Margaret.
I have located a Job, John and Benjamine Clevenger, sons of George and
Deliverance Horner Clevenger. George and Deliverance were from Burlington
Co., New Jersey. However, there are a number of children who were born in
Fredrick Co., Virginia. In fact, the dad, George, born in 1714 died in 1809
in Frederick, Virginia, as did Deliverance in 1756. I pulled this
information up onOneWorldTree. I'm more familiar with the Clevenger
families of Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas,Virginia and TExas.
My gggrandfather, William Joseph Jasper Clevenger was born in Forsyth,
Taney, Missouri, my great-grandfather, James MacDonald Clevenger, was born
in Crawford County, Arkansas and my grandmother, Mary Ella Clevenger, was
born in Oklahoma, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Does any of this ring
a bell? I found most of the family trees on Ancestry, Clevenger web sites
on RootsWeb and information I found on the Ancestry World Tree Project which
I could connect to the information from a great-aunt.
If you still think your family came from this branch, email me
directly from your private web site to mine.
Best wishes,
Mary

I have been on this list for years and didn't realize there was a private

( Cooke Co. TN to Ray Co. MO Clevenger's) I have a lot of information on
them but there is still I lot I could use. Would you please send me an
invitation .

Hi Mary,
I sincerely apologize for waiting so long to get back with you. I fractured
a rib or two over the holidays, and I still can't sit at the computer very
long at a time. I will get an invitation to you to the Clevenger web site
today. Just show your name as Mary (Clevenger) Coleman and basically
indicate who you are realated to, what info. You might have access to and
what you're interested in finding.
Good luck, we may all benefit from it.
Mary Musia

Look at the world around you, and you'll see God's creativity;
Look at the dinner table, and you'll see God's providence;
Look at the mirror, and you'll see God's sense of humor.
