I am trying to locate Louis Clevenger who lived in Eureka, Humboldt Co., California at least until the early 1980's. He worked in the saw mill until he nearly lost his hand in an accident. He may be writing or editing for a newspaper. May have relocated to Southern California or Missouri. His parents lived in McKinleyville or Garberville. If anyone has any information please contact me at:

Looking for info on Isaac Lemuel Clevenger born December 23, 1881. Resided in Cocke Co. TN. Married Bertha Louisa Francis. Children are Charles Franklin, Margaret Kelly, Thelma, Georgie, Ed. Are located in 1930 census in Knox County. Please help me find parents.
Daniel H. Clevenger is probably the most documented Clevenger that lived in
Wayne County, IL. That is primarily because he was a soldier in the Mexican
War. He had a land warrant bounty Daniel H. Clevenger- Winnie, WC-8833, 2
November 1893 & SC-5050, both IL, srv. Co. F, 3rd. IL Vols. ) Daniel's land warrant
is certificate #5050 and a second one #7821.
The second reason that Daniel Clevenger is so well known is that he left a
will and itemized his children. The will was after the fire in Fairfield County
and so it still exists in the Wayne County, IL courthouse.
There is some confusion about his marriages. Either he married two women who
were related or his wife had a very long name. In his Military pension papers,
it states that he and Winnie had never been married before their marriage.
1880 Wayne County, IL Census
Clevenger, Daniel H. 58 VA VA VA is shown with wife "Narcissus I. 48 TN NC
NC"
Some of the Children are very clear that their mother was born in Kentucky,
while others state she was born in Tenn. Winnie clearly stated that she was
born in KY, and Narcissus was born in Tenn.
Daniel was a Yankee and records show he was born in Harrison County, VA which
is now WV. He and his brothers and sisters, half brothers and sisters were
listed as the recepient of an estate of his brother, Benjamin W. Clevenger who
was also in the Mexican War.
Daniel was the son of the second wife of William Cleavenger, the patriarch of
the Wayne County, IL clan. William's claim to fame was that he was arrested
as a pig thief, but the charges were dropped for lack of evidence. That remark
has always struck me funny.
Daniel Cleavenger's mother was Nancy Shields, daughter of William and
Margaret Kinchaloe Shields of Harrison County, VA.
Good luck. Candee Hoff
