Hello Joy. I am from a Clevenger line and still trying to make a connection
with the parents of:
Thomas Clevenger b. May 15, 1782. His second wife Mary Brown had my great
grm. Charlotte, b @ 1814. Charlotte was m. to Samuel McCray of Lebanon Ohio.
They later moved to Montg. County/Greene County. Many folks via e-mail have
connected him with Samuel Clevenger/Mary Combs. The connections fit
loosely, dates are confusing with mine and I would appreciate any info to guide me
to the parents of my Thomas. My Thomas Clevenger died in May 5, 1858 and is
buried in Mt. Holly cemetary in Oh.
Thanks to anyone that has info. Hazel McCray Foster

Hello:
This is in response to your query regarding George Clevenger.
My information, although sketchy, indicates the following:
George Clevenger, b.1654 or 1644, England.
d. after 1682 or 1684, New York (?)
m. Sarah Haddon (daughter of John and Elizabeth Hadon) in 1656 in
Westchester Co., NY.
Had two sons:
George Clevenger, b. 1676, Westchester Co. NY
John Clevenger, b. 1678 or 1680, Westchester Co. NY.
(or possibly Possive, NJ in 1860)
d. after 1746, Burlington Co., NJ
Additionally, the first George Clevenger listed here was the son of
John Clevenger, b. abt 1633, Devon, England, d. aft 1654
m. Mary Unknown who was b. about 1635/37.
I hope this is information that will help you in your search. Please contact me and we can discuss other possible Clevenger ancestors.
Regards, JOY CLEVENGER

This is strange...My mother's maiden name is Clevenger and she has one brother, two sisters, one half brother, two half sisters. Her name is Cordelia Imogene Clevenger. Her mother married Buck Owens. Does this ring any bells? Are you connected to the Clevenger that was in the sheriff dept or a police? My mom remembers some Clevenger that was in law in forcement.

Does anyone have the parentage of this Amos Clevenger? (The wife is from a Rootsweb tree.) An Amos Clevenger was named executor of the will of Jonathan Pitman, d. 1834, Hamilton Co., OH. Jonathan's wife was Rebecca Clevenger, b. ca 1755 in New Jersey (Burlington Co.?)
