Okay, now I'm really confused. I have come across a couple of old censuses on my ggrandfather. He was born in Missouri, but on the 1920 census it lists his parents as both coming from Louisiana, and on the 1930 census it lists his mother as being from Kentucky, and his father "at sea". They had several children, girl clevenger (I think the first name starts with a K or an H) born in 1901, Cecil G. (my grandfather) born in 1911, boy Clevenger (first name starts with an L or a T, middle initial U.) born in 1913, Thelma F. born in 1915, Harley L. born in 1917, Helen H. born in 1921, and Twila P. being born in 1924. This is the census from Jasper County, Reeds Township, Missouri. Does this ring any bells for anyone? I'm trying to go farther back. David Marion's wife's name was Mary Mirinda (Smith) Clevenger. She went by the name of Minnie.
Carrie was the daughter of David Braxton and Margaret (Prior)
Clevenger. David was the son of Braxton and Joanne (Hodge(s)
Clevenger. Braxton was the son of Reuben and Sarah (Mayberry)
Clevenger. Reuben was the brother of Joshua Pitman Clevenger.
Reuben was in Macoupin Co, Il and then moved to Taney Co Mo by 1840

James Marion Clevenger was born in 1835 in Macoupin Co, IL. His
parents were William and Mary (Cherry) Clevenger. William was the
son of Joshua Pitman and Elizabeth (Janeway) Clevenger. Joshua was
born in Tenn. If you go to the
Macoupin Co, Illinois site on the USGenWeb web page, you will find
gobs of material on the Clevengers there. It is an easy page to
search

I am a Clevenger who has been trying to trace my Clevenger roots for
a long time. The farthest I have gotten is my GG's name was David
Marion Clevenger who was married to Minnie Smith in Jasper CO, MO.
His father's name was James M. Clevenger who was married to Sarah
Logsdon, I think in Illinois. He was born in Illinois and his
father, Benjamin was born in Tennesse. I have no information on
James' mother. James had a brother, Hugh, who married Sarah's sister
Martha. Does anyone have any additional info? Please help!

I mistakenly posted that my GG was born in Jasper Co, MO. It was Schuyler CO. I hope this helps. His name was David Marion Clevenger, who was married to Minnie Smith. His father was James M. Clevenger, who was married to Sarah Logsdon.

Sorry about the delay. I am sometimes too busy to get through all
the emails. All I try to do in the winter is live through it.
Spring has finally sprung so I should have more energy.

Hi Becky,
Thanks for replying so quickly and offering to do lookups. Yes, I
went through Clevenger Connections and a posting on this message
board, but with no luck. Maybe she isn't doing this anymore, is
there a chance of that? Anyway, I will keep trying to reach someone
and get a book, but if I get desperate I will ask you for a look up.
Thanks so much. By the way, the link seemed to have nothing there
unless I didn't find it.

Marsha,
I bought both the Clevenger Pioneers book and the Clevengers of Kentucky book from her. Her website has the prices listed and a link to email her for shipping. When I sent a check for them it took a while to get them, but worth waiting. Her web site is called Clevenger Connections and the url for the books is http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SFJ.2ACEB/405.1.1
I'd be glad to do look ups in the books.
Becky
