After researching, have come to a dead end about my great grandfather and grandmother.
Here is what I know.
My father's name was Walter Harlan Clevenger (died this year February 16)
He had 5 sisters; Essie (Sarah Elizabeth), Ida Bell, Ima Lee, and 2 others I can't remember.
His mother's name was Ida E. Clevenger (I don't know if her maiden name was the same - she married her 1st cousin)
His father's name was Carroll ? Clevenger
Both parents were born in the late 1800's. Father died around 1958 or 59. Mother died in the 1990's. She never remarried.
That is as far back as I can get. My grandmother (Ida) said that she could only remember seeing her father one time. He was on a horse, had a hat on, but the sun was behind him and she couldn't see his face.
When Carroll died, they lived around Lueders or Avoca, TX. Same for Ida. My dad (Walter Harlan) was raised in the same area.
Any info would be appreciated.

I have an Aunt whose name is Sarah Elizabeth Clevenger, Jolly, Faught. Lives in Lueders, Texas (last I knew). Her mother's name was Ida E. Clevenger, married to Carroll Clevenger. My father's name was Walter Harlan Clevenger, that would be Sarah's only (baby) brother. Sarah has one daughter named Sally Jane, married now, but I don't know her last name. Sarah had 4 other sisters, 3 are already dead.
Any possibility, these two Sarah's are related??

I found IRA CLEVENGER, age 63, on the 1920 Franklin County, Indiana, census. See Posey Twp., E.D. 29, Sheet 1-B, Line 68. This IRA CLEVENGER was a white male, age 63, widowed, born in Indiana, and may have been illiterate. Shown beneath him on Line 69 was a 5-year old son, whose first name was illegible (it looked like Auodore, Accodore, or Occudore). Whose IRA is this and what is the name of the son?
I'm trying to solve a problem in my family tree. If it's my g-grandfather, Ira, the age is right but the marital status is puzzling. I have not been able to locate a divorce decree in Rush or Franklin Counties for this ancestor, yet I know his former wife, Leora, was married to ACE SWORDS by 1920 and living in Rush County, IN, at that time.

I don't know who Sarah LARKINS married. Her daughter Maude married several times. Late in life her name was Maude CLEVENGER and she was in her 80's or 90's in a nursing home in Thayer, Oregon co, Missouri. Her half-brother, Ralph FIELDS died in Springfield, Missouri 30 Jan 1984 the same day Maude's son, Lester CLEVENGER died in Springfield, Missouri.
One source says Maude's maiden name may have been GIDEON or she married a GIDEON. One source says she married Siegel CLEVENGER and had son's Leon and Lester CLEVENGER. Lester CLEVENGER was born 20 Nov 1911 and died at St. John's Reg Health Center, Springfield, Greene co, MO. He had two daughters: Elizabeth CLEVENGER married Mr. HALL; and Linda CLEVENGER. I wish I had more than just the name Maud although the little tale I have of cousins is prolly helpful....and I'd have to think that it would be vastly "cool" to have The Witch of Pine Barrens as an ancestress....I'm just imagining the stories I could tell my son....=) Thanks for the info...I'm going to question some descended from Clevenger relatives I just found to see if I can come up with more names...

The John Clevenger in my family had a sister, Margaret, who was my great-grandmother. She lived from 1830-1929. He also had a sister, Anna. They were all from New Jersey.
Their parents were John R. Clevenger and Sarah (maiden name either Sargis or Sygars).
John R.'s parents were William and Margaret, better known as "Peggy Clevenger". Peggy has a place in South Jersey folklore as the "Witch of the Pine Barrens" who was murdered for a sock of gold she allegedly had. She and William operated a Stagecoach Inn around Pasadena, NJ, and the hotel was reportedly burned to cover up the murder. One of the perpetrators made a deathbed confession to the crime.

Wehave some confusion in our family whether there was a Maude (Aud) (Miller) in our family or not. I do have a John that was in the civil was, but with the Indiana voluntary infantry. Do not know if he was a POW or not, Brother William and John, sister Edith (Heflin). I vaguely remember
mention of an Aud as she was called while I was growing up. Anyway it could still be part of the family. Are there any other names you have?
