opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot.
When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed,

That mail service is blocking my attempts to mail to RootsWeb, so I
subscrided under my secondary mail account. Now I am getting two copies of
each digest.
I wish I could just cancel the mail service, but he is my local isp and
really cheap with a local call and no limit on connection times.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Clevenger Connections Newsletter October 1998 (2.19 KB) >> << Message:
George W. CLEVENGER m. Mahala ALEXANDER (1.17 KB) >>
Last month I queried the list regarding the "subject". Sarah responded with the hint that Mary Alexander died in Chillicothe, MO around 1918. I sent for the death certificate and was disappointed that it wasn't more informative. Regardless, I am sure that the Mahala ALEXANDER that I am searching for is the individual that married George W. CLEVENGER.
For those that are interested, here is the detail that I know regarding Mahala's family.
Father: Seth M. ALEXANDER, born Abt 1799-1800 in VA.
Mother: Elizabeth ________ , born abt 1808 in VA.
Children:
Festus Alexander, born Abt. 1831 in VA
Mary Alexander, born Sept 10, 1832 in Harrison Co. W(VA)
Martha Alexander, born 1834
Mahala Alexander, born Aug 2, 1840 in Ashland, OH; died August 7, 1918 in Chillicothe, Livingston Co., MO; buried Aug. 7, 1918 in the Everwood Cemetery, Chillicothe, MO. Mahala married George W. CLEVENGER on May 4, 1874, in McDonough Co., Illinois. The marriage may have taken place in/near the town of Bushnell, since Mahala was with her mother and father in Bushnell during the 1870 census.
In the future, if I learn anything about the Alexander family, I will post the info on this list.
Thank you for your responses last month.

The first paragraph of the article mentioned below said that the information was
found at NAIL.
Use your search engine and go to "NAIL"
Then do a search in the archive holdings -
Enter CLEVENGER and you should find the references to these clains.
The site tells you how to order copies of the claims.
Hope this helps.

An application for Cherokee citizenship by William Riley Clevenger states he
"was the son of James Clevenger (who married Lettie Hatcher in Clay Co, MO in
1835) and grandson of Joshua Hatcher who was a Cherokee Indian by blood and
who was born in North Carolina." It was denied.
The 1840 Clay Co Census in an extraction shows Nancy Hatcher-no enumeration
and another household, Joshua Hatcher-no enumeration. In an online image of
that census, the second page shows several people in each household. The
image was blurred and I could not determine the ages of each individual.
BUT they are listed as "free persons of color" which was a label attached to
anyone not "white". I am interested to see the microfilm and the ages of
those 2 families--it might help to establish relationships. Barb Proffitt
(great granddaughter of Riley Clevenger.)
I just noticed yesterday while reviewing the Clay County 1850 Census that entry 1250 shows William Hatcher 36 farmer $400 NC; Nancy 62 NC ; Sally 26 Tenn.
Entry 1253 has Stephen Barnes, 43 farmer; Letitia 40 NC(Hatcher Clevenger); Caroline 13 KY; (daughter by Stephen's first marriage.) Jesse Clevenger 13 m MO' Joshua 11 MO; Sarah 9 MO; William R 7 MO and Harriet 5 MO.
I had never noticed before the Nancy age 62 NC in Wm Hatcher's household. I had always assumed William Hatcher because of his age, where he was living and place of birth was a brother to Leticia Hatcher/Clevenger/ Barnes. I am assuming Nancy age 62 must be the mother of William and therefore Leticia, wife of Joshua Hatcher. Does anyone have any information on this?
