Seeking information regarding a Fred H Clevenger. I know that Fred married a
Melinda Davis Garrett some time after 1889 and died before 1920. Melinda was
listed in the 1920 city directory of Dayton Ohio as the widow of Fred H. I
suspect they have married in Wabash County Indiana where her husband divorced
her.
Happy hunting,

Does anyone out there have information on Sebene (or Serene) Clevenger,
born 5/09/1821-died 10/16/1860 or B.H. Clevenger, CO B, 9th Tenn. Cav?
My husband and I were vacationing in East Tennessee this past Sept. and
thought it would be fun to see if we could find a Clevenger Cemetery that was
on an old map.
When we got to the area where we thought the cemetery should be there was
nothing but a great big cornfield. Luckily, the farmer was there on his
tractor and told us, yes, there was a cemetery there, right in the middle of
that cornfield under a grove of trees. He said it was okay if we went in. He
told us at one time there were a lot more stones, but there were only two
left that could still be read.
The two stones that we could read were of Sebene or Serene (couldn't make
out the third letter for sure) and B.H. Clevenger. There were no dates on
B.H.'s stone.
The cemetery is NE of Knoxville, TN, on the west side of Cherokee Lake
near the dam. It is in Jefferson County. The very small town of Cherokee is
nearby.
I have pictures if anyone has an interest in these individuals.
